I've heard good things about The Slave Hunters and Queen Seondeok. Has anyone here seen this stuff?

i've purposely stayed away from them knowing i'd get addicted if i watched any. and yeah there are TONS of people hooked to them, even foreigners all over the place who watch K-drama's. even met a white lady from Hawaii the other day asking me if i watch them, which surprised me tbh.

i watch the variety shows and used to love them but its been awhile. i purposely stayed away from the drama's tho knowing i'd get sucked in. they even have them on Netflix, quite a few actually.

Korean TV stuff is 99% (I give them the benefit of the doubt here, I've never seen the 1% but I imagine it exists) made for teenage girls and housewives only because that's who watches TV in that country. Most older folks work 16 hours a day and boys play Starcraft. If you really want to watch melodramatic but entertaining TV watch Turkish ones, but each episode lasts 2 hours and aren't as substantive as a good US/UK/Scandinavian tv show.

I'm basically going by this:

It's the last one mentioned. Pretty much recommendations for epic fantasy-style storytelling for fans of Game of Thrones. I've heard a bunch about Spartacus and Rome and plan on watching both, and I, Claudius is one of the best series I've ever seen. I'm completely in the dark about Korean dramas though. I figured since this forum is international as fvck there might be some folks here who've dipped into this stuff.

oh wow they really mentioned Kdrama with those? Korea does love their period pieces(old setting drama's) where they're sort of like kung fu movies almost but with a lot more story to them

It is coincidental since i JUST got into Spartacus: Blood and Sand... and its been incredible so far. i wish i knew about it sooner.

that list looks legit.

Cool, don't know why they included those. They really are geared for Asian teenage girls, or stay at home wives. Korean guys may like them too but only because they are culturally insular and don't know any better and that's what TV is for them. Never heard of an Korean show though that doesn't dip into the incredibly cheesy. Chinese stuff is bad too but their period dramas are more knowingly farcical, it's called wuxia, a little more fun than Korean stuff if you can get over the intentionally bad special effects.

If you haven't watched Real Humans yet from Sweden though that's the foreign show you need to see.

Hulu likes to fill their app with terrible looking Korean TV shows, so I haven't seen any, but I know they put out excellent films (e.g., Oldboy, I Saw The Devil, Mother). Anybody know if their are any shows that are of similar quality to those types of Korean movies?

nah they're on another level. its why a lot of american soap women crossover to k-drama if they know about it. k-drama is sort of a international thing right now, its why Netflix has them and not Guidiing light or General Hospital(if these are still on lol)>
