dirk takes the 3 year 30 mio deal.
damn, i hoped that he would only take 6-8 mio a year, so that we can sign a star or two semi-stars, even if they are overpaid.

:facepalm

so the mavs wont be a contender for dirks last semi-strong year:facepalm

He averaged about 22ppg. He can get 13-15 million easily from other teams for a year or two.

could be worse...could've been 25 million.

BTW 10 mill is not overpaying for him.

youre mad at dirk taking 10 a year? I dont care about his age, his performance last season deserved more.

huge paycut from dirk and youre mad :facepalm for all he did for this franchise, i wont even be mad if he got 20mil

Wait, you're mad at Dirk because he took a pay cut, but it wasn't a big enough pay cut?

He could've easily gotten around $15 million if he was on the market openingly searching for another team.

he earnd over 180 mio total salary over the years. 6-8 mio would be great, considering you are a contender. i rly dont get it. so what is better? praising him, for what he did, or to pull all together for a second chip? i rly dont understand your american point of view (see kobe, klinsmann critisism and the reaction of the espn guy)

Mavs fans should be happy the guy's accepted only 10 mil a year. This very well could be his last contract signing of value, and he accepted less than he's worth. If Cuban had offered Dirk 6 mil it would have been an insult to his abilties, didn't Jodie Meeks sign for like 6 mil a year with Detroit this off season :oldlol:

Ugh, that just makes the Jodie Meeks contract look even worse. He's way underpaid and clearly better than Dirk.

I probably would have made it a 12-13 mil a year deal
just so I don't have to deal with him giving me the brow when I want to complain to him about his performance.

good thing the Mavs have plenty of good players they have the option to pay in order to give Dirk help though.

Op only made this thread to troll laker fans since only an idiot would truly be mad about Dirk getting 10 million/year.

As a Mavs fan I appreciate that in both 2010 and 2014, his two FA years, he never once scheduled a meeting with another team. That means a lot to me and probably a lot of Mavs fans and is a good indicator towards why the Mavs own not only the longest home sellout streak in the NBA but all of sports at over 500 straight sell outs.

Dirk is the reason. Great player but beyond that he is an even greater cornerstone. Much like Duncan you never have to worry about where his heart is.

you all get me wrong:

1. of course im trolling a little bit kobe stans
2. of course dirk is worth 10 mio, considering last season maybe 13-15 mio. but that is not the point. he should have only accepted the 6-8 mio, getting 1 superstar or 2 semi-stars, even overpaid, and starting to be a contender for his last shot. he has enough money.

Do we know the details of the contract yet? How its paid out? What is the cap hit for next season? Has he signed anything yet?

We can move Wright and others to make room for a superstar max guy.

This. If we really have a chance at another high impact guy...we can dump Wright/Felton together easily.

I still think it's looking like Thompson and Stephenson represent the best values for our team.

Hearing Pierce wants 9 million over 2 years as well. Another great value guy out there for us potentially.

Kind of along the same lines as this "Discussion"... If I were a max-level player, I'd definitely take a one year max deal, then the rest of my career play for the vets min. My goal is to win. As long as I have enough money to do what I want (and I do at my current salary, much less NBA vet min salary), I'm fine.

Oh...never mind. LOL

If we are sure out of Melo/Lebron sweepstakes. We really should just sign Thompson or Stephenson (I prefer Stephenson) and bring back Carter and Blair if possible and then fill out as best we can.

I posted it before, but this lineup to end games would be sick.

Ellis
Carter
Stephenson
Dirk
Chandler

Figure out the rest and potentially dump Wright/Felton if we need more room for something. Although I think both guys represent good value at their price points and like the depth they would provide for the regular season.

why are you so against Felton? he's on a small contract for only 2 years. you really don't think he's worth the risk as like the 9th man on our team? I definitely do. think about how important Barea was for us in 2011 during the playoffs. Felton has that potential and more actually...

I like that roster by the way, but I'm not sure we have enough to bring back carter, marion, and blair. my guess is that it would be carter and blair...no marion.
