Pierce, who will turn 37 before next season, wants a two-year deal that is going to pay him handsomely

You sure that's per year and not total? Like 4.5-5 mil?

Edit: Reading fail.

Just go back to Boston and retire

Gonna have to stay in Brooklyn for that money. Celtics aren't paying that for him on a retirement deal.

9 per?

Pierce is one of my all-time favorite players, but that's out there, man. 5-6 mill, I could see that. 9? Ouch.

Coming off career lows in points, assists and minutes (average). 15 to 9 is a pay cut, but dang.

Thats too much but someone will probably give it to him.

I highly doubt that he'll see that money. However, this has been an absurd offseason in terms of marginally good players getting overpaid, so you never know. Maybe Nets give him 9 first year and 7 second year with a team option on that second year?

He's worth around 6 million at this stage in his career.

Yeah, but not for players that will be 37 when the season starts.

Check out Steve Nash's Laker contract

He's still a better player than Melo

Steve Nash signed this offseason?

Also, Steve Nash wasn't a "marginally good player getting overpaid." He averaged 12 points and 10.7 assists the season before getting that Laker deal and tied a career in FG%. Minutes average was right around his career average. He was 2nd in the league in assists right before getting that deal. Huge difference.

I would love to see him play for the Bulls. Could use a vet like him on the team, and he will play for a familiar coach. It's almost perfect if the Bulls strike out on big name free agents or can't pull a worthy trade.

Can Memphis afford that?

9 per year

:biggums:

even 4,5 per year is horrible, he could turn into garnett-nash-washed up mode every day now

I thought it was 4.5 a year. 2 years 9 million total. LOL

My bad.
