Crazy.

If Miami brings back everyone, that roster hasn't really been upgraded.

Just trying to put 2 an 2 together, but why would LeBron/Bosh/Wade all opt out and take less money to bring in McRoberts? Who is basically a league average player, if that.

Solid pickup...Always felt he was a bit underrated. But this does not solve the Heat's two biggest needs... A bruising Big that can hang with the big teams and a consistent shooting PG that can work well with Lebron.
It seems to me they are settling since they missed out on Lowry and Gortat, and need to try and make a signing to appease Lebron...

No, Riley expects players like Deng and Lowry to take $5+ milllion less than what they're expected to get offered from other teams to sign with a Heat team that hasn't even laid out a plan to resign it's three best players when LeBron wants the max, Bosh wants the max.

We've seen Wade win a FMVP before Lebron

We've seen Wade & Bosh outscore Lebron in a finals series

We've seen Wade average 20ppg for 3/4 finals

Bosh is a 9x all star, wade is a 10x all star

We've seen Bosh put up 24 & 10 on his own team

Wade was all nba in 11,12 & 13..

Gasol is more than likely going where Melo goes. I mean it's not impossible for him to go to the Heat and all but he has ties in NY with Phil and Fisher if Melo stays there. He also has ties in LA with Kobe and will be teamed with him and Melo. Or if Melo goes to the Bulls, can easily be a part of that team too.

This wouldn't be a bad signing at all if they had their team in place but considering they don't, then it's kind of one of those makes you think decisions. We've seen McRoberts play good on the Bobcats but his stint on the Lakers was less than memorable, so it'll be interesting to see if he can actually take his game to a championship caliber team.

How does this actually work, is there a cap-hold for unrestricted free agents? If not they've got something like 60 mil of cap space, so no reason to use the MLE or anything else. Of course this would talke away from the money available for lbj/bosh/wade.

Spencer Hawes went for the same kind of money. Kaman went for cheaper on a per year basis.
Out there you still have big guys like:

- Cole Aldrich
- Channing Frye
- Ryan Hollins

All could be had on the cheap. Frye would probably command the most money. Instead they just basically threw MLE money at McBob. :confusedshrug:
