I'd bump Blake down to #5, with Lebron and Westbrook at #3 and #4.

it depends on what you mean by value.

Value in terms of overall contribution to team revenue, fans or winning/success. Or all of above?

Because if it is all of above, Kobe will have to be top 3 in the NBA. And Lebron is 1 no matter what category/categories you put him in.

If Kobe is going to be based on winning and success, probably top 10, but not top 5 for sure.

Agree with OP. If a draft started today, most GM would pick Anthony Davis or Durant. Age would matter. Strongly disagree about Griffin...

I think Griffin's ability to finish around the rim is overrated. because I don't think he can get any stronger as well as the lack of lower body strength.

I could be once again, under rating his lower body and backing down strength as well as his developement as a post move. But when you look at Griffin, he's some what similar built as Dwight, who is much stronger than Griffin, and his best post move is a running hook.

Griffin's natural position will be PF in the NBA in the long haul. But at this stage of his career, I think he has enough natural raw talent to dominate the opposing 3 with the skills he's gathered.

I guess I see his development as an outside in PF more than an inside out PF (traditionally how a PF pans out their career)

And if it wasn't because they have Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan right now. And I think they have a great contending window, I wouldn't suggest such a bold (not intelligent) move.

Edit: do you think defensively, even if you have Deng or Butler at the 3, it's still enough?
2nd Edit: Griffin's wingspan is at 6-11 while Dirk is at 7-2 Dwight at 7-4.5

Sometimes we try too hard to outsmart common sense.

It's LeBron, really.

If they were 100% certain they were landing LeBron, every GM right now would mortgage their house, sell their family, do pretty much whatever it takes...

Someone else already touched on it, but the answer really matters on how you define value. Is it just to winning? Or production? Or income potential? Or all of the above?

Winning? Lebron.
Production? Davis. His numbers per dollar are amazing.
Income potential? Lebron.

All that being said, if Davis had not been injured in both of his first two seasons, I'd put him first. Salary cap needs to be considered, and I'd rather have a top 10-15 player at only 5m than the best player at 19 or 20m.

Lead league in points at the rim and was up there in efficiency. The rest of your post was stupid as well

LMFAO Anthony Davis is a scrub compared to what LeBron will do until the end of his career. Fire any GM that doesn't trade their team for LeBron.

value as in value,
i mean lets say you are a GM,
would you trade davis for lebron? and the other way around

lebron has what? 2-3 years left as arguably best player in the league,

while davis still has 10+ years of prime (maybe around 5 years which he would be the absolute best)

If you're talking right this very instant, whereas "having" Lebron means owning his Bird Rights, like the Heat do, then maybe he falls as low as 3. Behind Durant who's the next best player but under contract, and Davis, who's the best bargain on a rookie deal in the league.

LeBron is still in his prime. Putting him on your team gives you a real shot at multiple championships for the next 3 years. Championships are rarer than you might think... Dirk only won one in his career... with Davis everything is hypothetical (what if he leaves your team after 3 years? he won't give you titles right away), with LeBron the championship opportunity is real and it's now.

... with LeBron the championship opportunity is real and it's now.
Very fair point. But I wouldn't be a GM that would assume players will take a paycut to play for me. And I'm doing this "exercise" assuming we are starting a team from scratch, as opposed to taking over an existing roster. That being said, Davis offers way more flexibility with the roster, and he's no slouch as a player.

What is the expected cap? 53m?

Davis - 5m. 48m left.
Star player A - 17m. 31m left.
Star-ish player B - 12m. 19m left.
vs

Lebron - 19m. 34m left.
A - 17m. 17m left.
B - 12m. 5m left.

That 14m difference alone is enough to sign any player that is not a top 10 talent.
I mean, hell.... Miami is seemingly excited and happy about adding McRoberts and Granger. Are you kidding me? That's the kind of roster that you get excited about when you have Lebron and another player or two that is/are paid like a star.

there's probably a bigger drop off between Centers who score and wings who can score.
