The Spurs system isn't exactly favourable for stars, so I don't really know why some of these players are being listed.
I'd like to see Matt Barnes in the system.

All.
I wish the entire NBA played a game where finding the open man was the first priority of every player and egos were put aside in the regular and postseason in terms of minutes played.
Which players would I try to sign in the future if I were the Spurs...
Pau Gasol
Rudy Fernandez
Adrein Payne
Gallanari
Chandler Parsons
Nick Batum
Horford
Greg Monroe
Calderon

I'm going against the odds.
Kobe.
In the words of the great Gregg Popovich, "I like guys who have gotten over themselves."
The Spurs' best trait is their chemistry. Now I'm not saying Kobe is a chemistry killer, because he's not, but I don't see him sacrificing his stats or minutes or committing to defense enough to succeed with the Spurs.
He's a guy who likes to carry his team and get all the glory, which is what most people love about him.

Another guy I'd like to see in the system: Tony Allen.

Imagine westbrook is asked to handle the ball for majority of the game, drive past screens and do whatever he likes.
Parker who's talent is borderline all-star is considered a superstar due to his usage rate, Imagine what superstar would do if given the chance, instant MVP with multiple Fmvps, Like the old man of riverwalk.

kobe and melo wouldn't work in the spurs system. It actually requires you to pass... Something they do not understand.

Rubio would be interesting, think about a Tony Parker with less scoring and more ball movement......This is the first thing that came to mind. The Spurs have probably the most under the radar influential staff hiring of all time in Chip Engelland, who used to just freelance. I could see him reworking Rubio's jumper and mid-range game. I hate lame comparisons but I like the idea of turning Rubio into a flashy Stockton like player.

Agreed, people seem to think that anyone on the Spurs will automatically be a better player. A huge part of the success of the Spurs is choosing the right players that will buy their philosophy, is not that Pop knows basketball secrets that no one else does, is more that the whole staff is very good at picking the right players. And having a leader like Duncan, who believes 100% in team success instead of individual glory, is a huge factor on why the other players believe in the system. IMO its not like lets put someone very talented like Kobe and it will automatically work, if Kobe, or anyone else save a few exceptions, was the leader of the team, this "Spurs system" would not exist.

Devin Harris.
First thing a player needs is good-high bball IQ. Preferably high. You also gotta buy into the system. They move the ball around. Great ball movement, screens and discipline.
Didnt Sjax try the Spurs a second time around and it didnt work out? Or is that because he just stinks? Talk to me Spurs fans.

Tony Allen would be absolutely brutal in the system.
He can't shoot. He's one of the worst shooters who plays a lot of minutes EVER.

I think John Wall would be fantastic in the Spurs system. Joe Johnson I think would really excel, too. Rudy Gay is another one-- he has a TON of potential; if there is any team that could maximize it, it's SA.
Some other names that come to mind: Pau, of course (maybe next season??), Tyreke Evans, (a healthy) Andrew Bogut, Derrick Favors, Demarcus Cousins, Paul Milsap, Andrew Davis (of course), Noah, Wesley Matthews.

The players that I'm having the privilege to coach have been incredible. The fact that they allow me to coach them as I've been able to coach them surprises me almost on a daily basis. It's a great group of people who, I always say, have gotten over themselves. They come practice; they play the game; we win; we lose; they go home. They do it wonderfully...Win or lose they do it with class, and they do it the right way.
A coach can't change people. They are who they are. No matter what team you're talking about, a coach can be observant and try to put his team in situations both on and off the court where some of that can develop, some of the camaraderie sorts of things. But you can't change people.
These two quotes by Pop I think show why half of these players wouldn't work. It's not about ability it's about a mindset

Didnt Sjax try the Spurs a second time around and it didnt work out? Or is that because he just stinks? Talk to me Spurs fans.Jax had the talent, the IQ and right kind of game that works with the Spurs.
The first time he left was more about the emergence of Manu than Jax himself. He was also able to put up better numbers in a less disciplined system than we would have seen in SA.
The second time was all about attitude and selfishness. Dude could just not deal with the occasional benching when Pop experimented with rotations or played to a situation. Overall poor attitude led to his release.

Nobody in the league is more of a "Spurs" guy than Lebron. He's made some terrible PR decisions, but the way he likes to play the game is Spurs to a tee.
Marc Gasol is another, dude would be the perfect replacement for Duncan in 2015 if Timmy hangs them up. Prime Marc Gasol is as good a player as 38 year old Timmy, although probably with even better defence and mid range shot.
