He's put in the work as far as getting in shape. Kind of worried his left hand is tapped in that postup picture though.

No one knows this. He's not played a single game since last season. To me I think he should play as a stretch 4. As you can see, he definitely has the bulk. When he was drafted people were like, "But he's only 6'8 tops"!"

Look how wide Bennett's shoulders are in this rookie pictures. He's got the shoulders of Andrew Bynum. His wingspan is 7'1"...

I still don't see him being a star player, but he should be an above average starter which is decent enough from that draft class.

still doesn't deserve the #1 pick

Nerlens should have been number 1

Tape job is for a sprained thumb, common basketball injury that you can play through.

Canada has eleven games this summer to prep for next year's qualifiers, AB needs to get out and play in those games and get some of his UNLV swagger back.

Lets look at this in a vacuum, lets pretend last year never happened and this is the guy we are looking at coming in:

This time around there will be fitness, summer league, no poisonous locker room. No reason this kid can't do well.

What position could he possibly play other than PF?

At draft time they said he could play the 3, but yeah after he put on the weight and how he played last year I think he has to be a 4 who can stretch a bit.

Kid will be a beast eventually. I'm seeing a Larry Johnson type player in all honesty. I think the meanness is something that will come to him, I really do. He probably didn't deserve the number 1 pick, but at the same time, at the end of their careers, I don't think it'll be a huge stretch to say he deserved to be one of the top 3 in that draft.

it matters if Lebron goes back. imagine the roster they could have had. Wiggins, Noel, Kyrie, Lebron, Varejao.

that's a better squad for positionless basketball than Miami.

Lol barkley wasn't all aggression, he was an athletic freak and a skilled player. Bennett needs to get in shape and find a position first cause he wont blow by players like barkley did.

maybe the media did, but Chris Grant and Mike Brown consistently said they saw him as a 4 in the league.

I don't know what david blatt is going to do with him, but position labels don't really matter so much, IMO.

I think he's going to turn out to be a really good player and everyone is going to eat crow. His rookie year was the perfect storm of injuries, locker room turmoil, weak coaching, etc.

I never think much of it when people his age are said to be in the best shape of their lives. If a long time vet is in the best shape of his life I might expect a nice result. Being like 20....all that means is you were in bad shape then worked out for a few months.

I have concerns about any 20 year old pro basketball player who was in bad enough shape to begin with to have it said he got in shape.

40 year olds are supposed to be out of shape. Hes barely grown and a #1 draft pick in the NBA. Being in shape should be the bare minimum.

Not like hes working with Shaq/Barkley talent.

I think he has potential. He has a ridiculously strong build, and he seemed to have decent explosiveness, even when he was chubby. The only thing that I'd really worry about is that he doesn't really fit into any position physically. His body type and skillset are that of a 4, but he's very short for that position, and lacks Barkley-like athleticism. He has a good wingspan, so maybe his reach can make up for his lack of height, similar to Elton Brand.

except he had shoulder surgery for a torn labrum and was told not to move for a few months...

It's not like the dude was fine and could work out all summer, he missed summer league and didn't get back to shooting until late august.

he had a 39'' vert at UNLV. I think he's athletic enough, plus he's heavy and long enough to play the position. He has a very big wingspan for his height.
