From my understanding, Jazz can match the offer.

Gordon Hayward will sign a major offer sheet with the Hornets.

The only way I can see the Jazz not matching Hayward's offer sheet would be a heavily backloaded deal that threatens to put Utah in the tax.

If this happens, the Hornets could become a pretty fun 2K team next year. Wouldn't amount to much in the real world, but in the 2K world that team really just needs a shooter and they're set if they're user controlled.
This is coming from someone who rarely plays online, so I'm talking about in MyGM/Association mode.

they really miss a guy like Gerald Wallace though.
they could challenge the top spots in the east if they could get a guy like him.
Kemba
Hayward
MKG
Vonleh
Al Jeff
That's a legitimately good starting 5 in the East. With Zeller, Hairston and Henderson off the bench, they could make a little noise.
I really would like Utah to NOT match this offer. He's the outside shot Charlotte needs.

wasn't he a top rebounding big man as a freshman?
They need a big who gets back on the defensive end at full speed on every posession since they are playing Jefferson at Center.
not questioning Zeller's effort, but he can probably do that efficiently for you about 25-30 min a game playing at the 4 (since he's a C naturally)
if Vonleh can be that guy who runs back right away, he will at the least have a positive/strong defensive impact for the team as they have young perimeter players who defend.

The Hornets will need to operate a lot differently to last year with McBob gone, however adding Vonleh and Hayward while only losing McBob is a great offseason.

probably 12 and scaled up to 14 is his real worth.
but the Bobcats don't score much/enough.
so 16 points a game on the Bobcats means something.
Kemba Walker is a better scorer than Burke.
But I always saw Burke as a better play maker, especially watching him and hardaway Jr.
unfortunately the news out right now is Exum isn't a great shooter. If he was, nothing to say Burke/Exum can't be better than what Burke/Hardaway Jr were in college. Especially if Burke becomes a better shooter himself since Exum is going to have the ability to post over Hardaway.

He's not worth that much. Charlotte's management believing that he will turn into something potent down the road and/or feel this will be the move to turn them into a better team in their conference.
This is why GM's get sacked and blamed for a lot of the failures for their franchise.

I don't know about that. MKG is a great defender/slasher to the rim. He doesn't have a jumpshot but he is improving it. Mark Price is working with him and he said last offseason that it would take a few offseasons to reconstructure and make it serviceable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWKDc36Kn-w - You really think with that defense and a decent jumpshot he would be on the bench?
And I have no doubt MKG is going to get at least a decent jumpshot. His work ethic stories at UK are legendary.

I was probably a bit harsh. If he can be an elite defender, he can probably find a place to start somewhere. MKG's offense is really, really, really bad though. He needs to at least be able to knock down a corner 3 (see Bruce Bowen).

probably because they don't want to see him scoring based off of his athleticism. not that those shots would nessecarily result in high percentage shots.

No need. Just get rid of restricted free agency. The Jazz had the opportunity to extend Hayward. They didn't want to pay him 13 million so they let the market decide. The market says he's worth the max now they'll start crying about his contract if they match him. They had the chance to lock him up and missed. Who's to blame in that case. Boy, what a joke of a contract for a slightly above average player. This is nothing against Hayward, but he is not worth more than about 8 to 10 million per season.
For example, let's compare his numbers to Oklahoma City's sixth man Reggie Jackson per 36 minutes:
A) Hayward - 16 ppg, 5 rpg, 5.1 apg, 41.3% fg, 30.4% 3PT, 52.0% TS, 16.2 PER and .089 winshares per 48 minutes
B) Jackson - 16.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 5.2 apg, 44% fg, 33.9% 3PT, 52.7% TS, 15.6 PER and .104 winshares per 48 minutes.
I choose Reggie Jackson as a comparison because each player had fairly identical production and each of them are 23 years old. And nothing against Reggie Jackson either, but there is no way that he is worth any more than eight or 10 million per season when he becomes a restricted free agent next year, at most.
A terrible, terrible contract.
