I honestly get the feeling he's just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks, and puts the word "source" in there so people take him more seriously.

You can tell Woj has people on the inside giving him the scoop...Broussard is just making educated guesses.

To be fair, he's not really much different from any other reporter. There are only a few guys who seem to have legit inside info. Everyone else is going off conjecture.

They're two kinds of reporters.

1) Who are the puppet of athletes and get inside information in exchange for first hand/accurate/positive news. It's a mutually beneficial agreement.

Kobe Bryant for example hates ESPN, so he only deals with Woj on yahoo.

Mark Stein is the only objective reporter on ESPN, and because it's a reputable outlet unfortunately, guys go to him as well for the sole purpose of knowing that it'll have an audience.

Marc J Spears is a good/objective reporter too. Guys will trust him.


2) Those who go digging for dirt. They get their sources from competitors of athletes from teammates, players on other teams, to front office who dislike said athlete or organization. Players know who these guys are for better or worse.

You will advance your career with only 1 of these options. You have to be a puppet OR a hater.


Who the hell likes Broussard? And if they did, WHY go to him over Stein on espn? This guy is just searching twitter and second, third hand people i.e. the guy sitting 3 rows back in a movie theatre from Lebron, or the McDonalds employee who served Raymond Felton a Big Mac combo to get his insider information.
