Listen to the video that is on this site, it's an interview with Sheridan where the interviewer is basically questioning him on the validity of the claim and it sounds legit.
He didn't say done deal, he said 90% chance and the 10% chance was that Riley might be able to talk him into staying during their meeting because he can be very convincing.

It's worth a listen if you are actually interested in the situation.
