View Full Version : The Cavs fans welcoming Lebron back-welcoming cheating ex girlfriend analogy

First of all, I'm not a Cleveland fan, definitely not a Lebron fan, and as a Bulls fan will be rooting hard against them if Lebron comes back. But I keep hearing this analogy, and I just got to say its ridiculous. One is an ex cheating on you. The other is a freaking basketball player that most Cav fans don't know personally and who probably doesn't know most of his fans personally. I don't blame Cleveland fans at all if they welcome him back, and I also don't blame them if they don't. Either way, its not pathetic like some have said. Who is pathetic are the people that actually equate your girlfriend/wife cheating on you to a star player leaving your favorite team :oldlol: . Its just basketball. Its not that serious.

if he left by request to trade or something then i'd agree with analogy but signing as a free agent. Nah

the analogy is the girl that cheats iwth you on live television coming back and telling you how "she's changed"

it's easy to make a whore out of a girl, but you cant put the genie back in the bottle

OP must have gotten back with his ex after she left him for another guy

It's an analogy for a reason.

No matter what happens, Cavs fans will always be dumped on, as will Miami fans.

Miami fans don't get enraged when Lebron leaves = fair weather fans who don't care.

Miami fans get enraged when Lebron leaves = OMG look at how butthurt they are!!!

replace Cleveland w/ Miami. Same sh*t different city.

I really just want this to be over with.

It's an analogy for a reason.

And some analogies are dumb. One is way more serious then the other and should rightfully be taken very personally. The other is just about entertainment.

OP sounds like an angry virgin.

And let's be honest if this exgf looked/had the personality equivalent of LeBron James basketball skills, and you like the Cavs fkced up which had an impact of him/her leaving hard to walk away when she wants to reconnect years later. You atleast gotta **** with her one more time and get that championship.

I'd bang her/win a championship than drive her to some dark alley and leave her stranded. Cavs should win a championship than trade him to Minnesota for the remainder of his contract :lol

It's not the worst analogy, but I think we need to put peoples' priority in their life that of importance in there as well.

When two parties who once had a common goal, now have different agendas as well as path they intend to pursue for that goal. it CAN be compared to two being in a relationship and parting ways.

I would personally equate it to a confused young male leaving his hometown to find himself...returning with a new set of skills, swagger and intangibles only a handful of athletes have possessed.

Bron was a boy when he left Cleveland...he returns a man

I guess the comparison is valid. But my main point was directed towards the media/non-Cavs fans who are ridiculing Cavs fans and using this analogy to do that. Even though the analogy makes sense, it sounds like they are also equating the two.

I always compared The Decision not necessarily to cheating, but to having your long time girlfriend going on stage during prom to announce to the entire school that she was dumping you to start dating the starting quarterback

well, that just means you're certainly not the shit, and you're dealing with her shit.

how are you not her shit?

and he finds that the Cavs wants to offer him a roster of boys and not men.

Anyone that compares being cheated on by someone you care about, to an athlete that doesn't know you exist, is ****ing retarded.

If the girl is hot and she dipped out on you once confessed and said sorry....

THAT'S THE BEST SCENARIO!!!!!

Cuz you keep the hot girl you know really wants to be with you and you can dip out every single time and not feel bad!

Technically he did force a sign-and-trade for salary purposes and the Cavs got a few useful things (picks/trade exception) but I agree with OP's point about the cheating wife/girlfriend analogy. Portraying Cavs fans as a "scorned lover" was always ludicrous. We were pissed off sports fans... period.

It's not cheating, it's not like LBJ was donning a Udonis Haslem mask and jersey every other night and secretly playing for the Heat. He left in FA which is far more akin to breaking up and leaving.

There was no cheating at all. Cleveland got dumped by LBJ. Now they're getting a second chance after they got in the gym, lost weight and started giving a damn about their appearance.
