Sure a supporting cast of KneeWade, Chalmers, and McRoberts. Sounds ideal

I was thinking more along the lines of convincing Bosh to stay too. Same roster as last year for the most part would still compete with LeBron and the Cavs for the East title. Bosh on the Rockets are a 2nd round team in the WCF.

If Bosh would return, they seriously would be favorites to get to the Finals and likely win 2 games against the Spurs.

But that's not happening.

Or the Bulls.

Filling LeChoke's shoes would be cool tho, not that big of shoes to fill and would make him instantly look man enough for the job while LeChoke isnt

Napier/Wade/Melo/McRoberts/Bosh

Cole/Allen/Beasley/Granger/Birdman

Best team in the East

If LeBron couldn't beat the Spurs with Bosh/Wade, what makes you think Melo could.... especially w/ Wade's knees a year older?

Melo obviously wants to win... He won't go to Miami unless LeBron is there and Bosh is gone

Yeah that would probably be a better team than LeBron's cavs, but still not gonna beat the Spurs

Damn

Melo/Wade/Bosh vs LeBron/Kyrie/Wiggins or Love ECF

I want to see this.

Very mixed on this. It would be a very different arrangement than with James. Melo would be the leading scorer, but Wade, if he bounces back, would be the play creator. So can Melo play as a true off-the-ball scorer rather than a ball stopper and shot jacker?

Then there's defense, which is where LeBron's loss would hurt the most. Melo hasn't played defense in Denver or New York. Could Spo, who is actually a very good defensive coach, get him to commit to the Heat system?

I'd rather see the Heat give Bosh the max to get him to stay, convince Wade to sign for maybe 4 years/ 70 M and use the max dollars that were supposed to go to LeBron to fill out the roster.

If they cut Wade's minutes to 32 a night and he can manage 23/5/6 or something like that and hold up for the whole season and Bosh can do 20/10 or more, then with McRoberts, Granger, Napier and whoever is left plus all that money that went to James, the Heat can contend in their conference.

I never said that I thought the Heat with Melo in for LeBron would beat the Spurs. But Melo with the Heat is way more competitive than Melo staying with the Knicks. If Melo and the Heat can beat LeBron and the Cavs, that would be the most validating thing Melo has done in his career already. Also, if Wade bounces back a little bit and a team less polished than the 2014 Spurs makes it out of the West, then there is a chance a Melo led Heat could win the chip.

well, with the Heat, Wade is on the decline as well as Bosh himself.
and the best young talent they have right now is Napier

with the Knicks there's Calderon, to a certain extense Smith
but they have Amare and Barg coming off their book next season.

If Melo doesn't think he can win the a championship with the Heat this season, their rebuilding phase is going to take much longer than the Knicks.

look at the 2008 Celtics, they were probably the last most recent team who had star players that got together and won a championship, and were then on the decline ever since.

They also had a bench before they acquried KG/Ray Allen though

If Celtics are the comparison, they were competitive for 3 years, not 1. And sure Melo can wait, but for who? Is throwing away next year with the garbage roster the Knicks have worth hoping that Kevin Love doesn't land on a team he is happy with before then or hoping that Aldridge turns on Portland's promising future to join an aging Melo on a shitty Knicks roster? There are no other huge free agents in 2015 that are worth a damn compared to Bosh and even declining Wade.

Do you idiots even think before making a thread?

There's no way a superstar of Melo's calibur is going to follow in Lebron's footsteps unless it was to play with him.

What the **** would going to the Heat after Lebron left accomplish?

I'm pretty sure Melo has pride and wants to leave his own lasting legacy.

Well for 1, he would be much more likely to beat LeBron and the Cavs with the Heat than with the Knicks.

And what is that? That he was a very good scorer? So Melo is another Dominique, minus the dunks?
