According to Brousard (shaky source I know), Lebron would have already signed with the Cavs had Dan Gilbert never wrote that letter. A source close to him said he would have signed "a while ago".
Public apology coming from Gilbert?

Never bought in on LeBron coming back, and not buying this report. If the letter was really that much of an issue, he wouldn't have considered CLE in the first place.

Agree.
Seriously, if the letter was that big of a deal, he wouldn't have even thought once about Cleveland. Sounds to me like he's using the letter as an excuse to go back to Miami or to another stacked team.

That has to be the stupidest thing I've heard throughout this whole process.
Wade is hobbled, taking up cap space and dragging the team down...yet a stupid letter is what affects his decision.

Just another random Brousard's thought. Don't make threads based on what that idiot tweets.

I agree, but I do think the letter pissed him off.
If his camp actually did leak this, maybe they want to hear Gilbert apologize publicly for being a salty bitch after Lebron left. That letter was pretty ridiculous and moronic.

Lebron is joining the cavs cause he is trying to stack just like him and wade stacked in 2010 this time him wade and bosh are not better than Irving Wiggins lebron because of the freak luck or rigged draft either way lebron is taking the cowards way part 2 and leaving loyalty in the back pocket. In a way i don't blame him I use to call myself a die hard cubs fan till I realized the ownership has to man up I got to believe in them also

Public apology coming from Gilbert?
at the best he congradulates him for his accomplishments
an apology would have probably including them not trading away Tyler Zeller
Edit: how do you draft Wiggins having Lebron in mind?
or I guess waiters was expandable from the get go

It's a shock to me that LeBron is even thinking about Cleveland after that letter. You expect a fan to do that, but an owner? I would never work for someone that unprofessional.

That "unprofessional" guy is a self made billionaire who just got butt-****ed by the greatest athlete to ever come from the region. You'd be pissed too. :oldlol:

I don't care that he is a self made billionaire and if he was pissed. You just don't do that. LeBron is not his property. I would not do that in public.

it galvanized the fanbase though. Cavs fans loved it. Let's be real, the letter isn't holding sh*t up. If lebron's not returning to cleveland, it wasn't because of some letter. It's because he felt there was a better basketball opportunity elsewhere.

Of course it did. He wanted to capitalize on Cleveland's hatred and put butts in the seats. I do think the letter is a factor, but IDK if it will be the main reason he doesn't go. If he stays in the Miami, most likely the biggest reason will be because he's comfortable with Pat and Spo, and he knows what to expect while Cleveland has a new coach and players he doesn't know that well.

Whatever the reason for writing the letter, clearly, it backfired.
Even if LeBron is just using the letter as a smoke screen to sign back with Miami or another stacked team, Dan Gilbert gave him that screen.
Now, LeBron is using Dan Gilbert's own words against him. Talk about a smooth operator.

Who cares at this point? LeBron just needs to stop holding the entire league hostage, and sign somewhere. My god what a Queen.

you didn't know that if Lebron James played for any other team not named the Cavs he'd never be viewed as a normal person anymore?

LeBron's not holding anyone hostage. Other players are choosing to wait on him... and not even all players for that fact.
Has it affected Lowry, Hayward, Hawes, or McRoberts' ability to get signed? Parsons is getting $45 mil regardless of where LeBron chooses. There's nothing preventing Deng, Pau, or any other mid-tier free agent from signing right now - especially if it's for a team that expects no roster changes like OKC.

He is holding everyone hostage. Houston, Miami, Cleveland, LA, and NY. The teams, and players that have moved on, are not affected at all by LeBron, and what he decides.

BS. Lebron's people are just trying to cover his ass just in case he changes his mind about going to Cleveland. Regardless, the backlash will be even worse this time.
BS. Lebron's people are just trying to cover his ass just in case he changes his mind about going to Cleveland. Regardless, the backlash will be even worse this time. He (Lebron) seemed to go into this summer with the right plan, he knows the numbers, he knows what the various teams have to offer and what type of position they would be in if he were to sign there so his agent heard the teams out and reported back to Lebron to make a decision.
But now he's letting it all go sideways. 4 years ago it was amateur hour and it's looking like they haven't learned a damn thing in that time as once again they've lost control of the story when one or two soundbites would have kept everything in check

this
TBH Broussard has been coming across like he is either straight making shit up or is pulling a Darren Rovell and is reporting everything he hears from anyone who has ever been in the same room as LeBron without doing his due diligence to vet the material.
