I agree. I don't think the Cavs can win a championship next year unless they get Love. LeBron didn't sign up to wait for Wiggins and Bennett to develop for a couple of years, he came to win rings NOW.

Not particularly well managed, tried to contend for the playoffs only to fall into the mediocrity trap... somehow lucked out on Wiggins.

Go get Wiggins flip!!!
The best case scenario for Cleveland:
Waiters + Thompson + Varejao + Miami's 1st (top 10 protected in 15 and 16, unprotected in 17) + Cleveland's 1st next year + Cleveland's 1st in 17
If Minnesota prefers Bennett to Thompson, Cleveland saves roughly $400k more by dealing Bennett. Cleveland could also toss in Memphis' 2015 1st rd pick if they want to, giving the Wolves potentially 4 1st rd picks next year.
Minnesota gets two young pieces to build around, an expiring contract in Varejao (and enticing trade piece during the season), two end of the 1st rd picks and one pick that could very well settle in to the lottery based on who decides to join Dwayne Wade in Miami.

Cleveland's not dealing Wiggins and the Wolves lost out on him when Love wouldn't give Cleveland a guarantee before the draft.
Be happy with 2 young player, an expirer and 4 1st round picks or cry yourself to sleep when Love leaves next offseason and the Wolves receive nothing in compensation (and you get to watch him in Lakers gold or Knicks orange).

Cavs with Kevin Love are a top contender next year.
Cavs with Wiggins might be a contender a few years from now.
I know which option I would pick, and I think both Lebron and the Cavs front office are thinking the same.
However, I would obviously try to get Love without giving up Wiggins first. If Love starts pushing for that kind of deal, the Wolves might have to take it.

I don't think Cavs fans realize just how ridiculously stacked they would be if they could hold on to Wiggins while adding Love.
2-3 years from now, if Wiggins pans out (and LeBron should help, his chances for long term success are higher in Cleveland, although he will have a worse first few years statistically) you're looking at a team that is basically unstoppable.

GS has a shot at getting Love, but I don't think Boston does. Remember, Love has only 1 year left on his contract, so no team is going to trade for him unless they get a promise that he will re-sign, which means he can control where he gets traded. And Boston is not a good situation for him, he wants to play for a contender.

What about Pao Gasol?
If the Twolves demand Wiggins, screw it. Just sign Gasol instead. He would be a sick addition to this team. He'd add a dimension down low that the Cavs havn't had forever, and he'd be a great addition for a European-style coach. And they don't need him to be prime Gasol. I like the idea just as much as getting Love.

Love to Cleveland makes perfect sense. Cavs have a bunch of young assets that are expendable and Love will join a stacked team and will be a relevant player.

Yeah, people underestimate how much Love would thrive as a second/third option.
By not having to carry the team, he can focus on what he does best (shooting, rebounding, outlet passing)... what he does best, he does better than almost anyone else in the league.

Not right away though. If he stays in Cleveland and develops to his full potential, it could be a Kobe situation. You could see him average 8 the first year, 15 the second, 20 the third etc.... but by the time he becomes a star he'd be playing for a championship contender, similar to Kobe.
If he goes to Minnesota his career path will drastically change. He will get better raw stats right away, but worse habits, and will not benefit from playing on a winning team.

Replace Bennett with Thompson and its a deal Minny can think about. I dont know Love's other destinations he wouldn't mind. Other teams can offer as good or even better if Love would play there long term. But for Cavs, I'd see if Minny bites. Only time I would pawn Wiggins is if another team is on the brink of trading for Love (and he agreed to an extension). Might swoop in with Wiggins.
Depends how much Cavs like Love.
Lets face it the team Cavs have had rolling out there since Bron haven't been good. I'd sell some of these assets off but better players around Bron.
