Pat Riley is 69 years old he can't protect him forever.

I give Spo 1.5 seasons until his dismissal.

Why would Spo be fired? He has 3 rings and has been to the Finals 4 years in a row? Yes they had LeBron, but he's a good coach.

Now we get to see where Spo is at from a coaching standpoint without having the best player in the game.

Why would he get fired? He has two superstars and will likely get a third all-star caliber player like Deng or Ariza. Surely Miami will remain a contender under these conditions...

He has 3 rings. 2006 as assistant coach, 2012-2013 as HC.

He's been to the Finals 4 years in a row as HC.

Why do they replace Spo? Although they did replace SVG with a young team for Shaq with Riley as HC again.

He's a great coach. 2nd longest tenured coach in the L.

You're going to count the ring Riley won in '06 for Spo too?

O I didn't know rings as an assistant can be used as a testament to your coaching ability.

From now on , Mike Browns got a ring under his name

Meh... my point is more that he's been part of the organization for a long time and Riley trusts him. 2 titles and 4 EC titles is more than enough. He's also the 2nd longest tenured coach in the league right now.

My point is that he's been part of the organization for a long time. Riley trusts him. Either way, he's won 2 titles and been to the Finals 4 straight times as the HC. I'm missing your point about not knowing "history."

If he's great what is Pop? Pop embarrassed him, heck Carlisle outcoached him. Great is the wrong word. Maybe a little better than Brooks.

I think he did well against Pop in 2013. I think the last Finals was more of Miami being old and tired. They had dead feet the whole year on defense. Yah we cruised through the shitty East, but we were awful all year on defense and looked exhausted. It finally caught up with Miami in the Finals against a young hungry great passing team. I'll give you 2011. The whole team including Spo didn't know how to fit together. He's improved since then plus LeBron choked.

You realize Ray Allen pulled everyone out of that fire?

You're right, but the Heat still won in the end. Pop took Duncan out and Bosh got the offensive rebound, which lead to Ray Allen's shot.

Yeah, you got me there. I remember shaking my head in disbelief even before that play. I was outright sarcastic with the Brooks comment, but as you said, good coach not great. For my money Riley and Pop at the top. I don't buy into Jackson or Auerbach, they had coaches/motivators on the floor.

I wonder how they'll adjust the defense now that lebron is gone alot of their old schemes won't work and surely now with the space they can finally get a decent C?
