Pau Gasol turned down a two-year, $10M-plus per deal with the Lakers, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. Likely moving on.

Lol, did they really offer Hill almost twice as much as Gasol ?
oh the horror
07-11-2014, 06:43 PM
Yeah. Obviously the plan is to have mostly everyone off the books for the most part after Kobe's contract expires. Pau either looking for more or more years.

10 million per year is lowball? Dirk and Duncan got lowballed, then.

Like I said in the other thread, this is not giving me a good feeling about FA.
They should have offered Pau first and foremost, a bigger deal and if he wanted to go another team, so be it. Instead, they sign Young and Hill and trade for Lin, lessening the cap space. Surely that was just "Here's a token offer Pau, we appreciate what you gave to us" because that couldn't have been serious.

That tweet is really not clear. How much was the offer ?

07-11-2014, 06:45 PM
It's 5 mill a year. The bloody MLE from OKC/SAS is more!
No it's not. Read it carefully. It says 10 plus million PER deal. That generally means per year.
If you honestly think the Lakers would offer less than the MLE to keep Pau you're dreaming.
oh the horror
07-11-2014, 06:45 PM
no, it's 2 years/10+ mil, so 5/year
Wow. Then I read it wrong as well. Wtf that is low balling lol

What a low ball offer
meanwhile, Hill gets 9 mill a year and Sushi gets 5 mill a year.
I mean, ****ing OKC and SAS can give the MLE to him, why would he take that crappy deal?

Pau is 34 already and has been on the decline for couple of years now, experience is not what we need, we need athleticism and effort, something Pau doesnt have

Gasol shouldn't re-sign, gave Hill almost twice as much. Should be other way around.

He knows Miami has a big old pile of money lying around now.
Pretty stupid of them. Gasol, Randle, Kobe, Lin, Corpse of Nash could have been an ok team. Between Dallas, OK, SA, Miami, Phoenix etc there was too much competition for that to ever fly.

I misread it. Woj says "10 mill plus PER".
So Pau turned down 2 yrs 20 mill

No, it couldnt. Youre seduced by name value. In reality that is a pitiful team and Kobe will end up faking another injury rather than play and get embarrassed each night.

Don't know who he thinks he's going to get more from. Come on Pau.
I think at this point he's looking to win a chip over money. So that means he doesn't view a contender in the Lakers and thus, probably could have offered him everything and he wouldn't have taken it.
We kinda deserve it, let's be real. A lot of Laker fans gave him crap over the past few years and he had to be the subject of trade talk. He probably wants a fresh start now.

Lakers offered JHill what, 9 mil a year? :oldlol:
alanLA92
07-11-2014, 06:51 PM
Noticed it said per, so Gasol turned down $20 mill for the next yrs. Either he's still wants to test market or willing to go to contender for less
D-Rose
07-11-2014, 06:51 PM
Welp, no more $.
@EricPincus 5m
Lakers are spent on cap room with Hill, Lin and Young -- can still re-sign Bazemore, Kelly - only path to more cap is exiting Nash somehow

Nobody is offering him shit though...right?
Pacers aren't budging and Lakers, a likely destination to overpay, are out of it.
The Heat likely won't with Wade going back.
Not a ton of teams left.

I believe we still have a reserve, we can get rid off Nash and get extra 6 million in caps, not sure it would be enough,

Regarding Pau: top two now Chi/Spurs..if Bulls can't do sign and trade with Lakers, likely he goes to Spurs
Wow. The Spurs would be incredible at using Pau's skill set. Diaw/Gasol off the bench

Of course it's $10 million per year. Jesus Christ. We just gave Jordan Hill $9 million per year, do you really think we'd low-ball Gasol like that?
no pun intended

I'm pretty sure they offered Hill that contract after Gasol's rejection.

Pretty sure they have renounced the Bird Rights for him.. they wouldn't have been able to take on Lin's contract without trading back close to equal value otherwise.
