View Full Version : If LeBron finishes his career with less rings than Kobe, Duncan, and Jordan...

Then his career will have been a complete and utter dissapointment.
We saw all of those guys go through adversity and rough stretches with their teams yet they never jumped ship and all still ended up with 5+ rings.
Jordan had it rough as hell fighting through the Celtics and then Pistons before his team got over the hump. He even quit to play baseball for a year while in his prime.
Kobe had to play with that notoriously bad lineup of Smush Parker and Kwame Brown for what, 2 years? :oldlol: Why didn't he just jump ship to an easier situation? EDIT: THREE YEARS.
Duncan's team up until these past 2 seasons were looking rough and even Duncan didn't look as good as he does now. They got eliminated in the first round a few years ago even.
Yet all of these guys still ended up with 5+ rings for the same franchise.
Meanwhile LeBron is literally disregarding any sort of loyalty and jumping ship to whichever situation is easiest to win a championship along with playing in the weakest conference of the modern era. I just don't see how his career can't be seen as a complete and utter failure if he doesn't end it with at least 5 rings.

Kyrie/Waiters/Wiggins + an organization that will CATER TO HIM 100% > Always injured D-Rose, Noah (who doesn't like LeBron), Thibs (who would overwork LeBron), and crew

Poor Kobe, having to be paired with prime Shaq and then Gasol. Same goes for Duncan and those terribly constructed Spurs teams he was on. Add on the incompetent coaches each player had, you have to give them props for sticking it out in such terrible conditions.

If 2 FMVPS, 2 Championships rings, 4 League MVPS, 10 All-Star appearances, 2 Olympics Gold Medals, a scoring title, and a host of other awards, equals a "complete and utter disappointment" career wise; boy do I want that career.

Now that he is back with Cleveland, I still consider him to have 0 rings.
Cavs fans are more humbled now. They will never argue about Lebron and his ring count.
It would be funny to see them argue for his rings that he got from another team other than Cleveland.
Lebron being compared to Kobe or MJ is officially dead.

Right, and those guys have all had series where they didn't play well and lost but they didn't flock the following season to form an uber stacked team.
You make prime Gasol sound like he's such a force to be reckoned with but the dude has never won a single playoff game without Kobe :oldlol:
Meanwhile Bron is leaving Bosh and Wade in the dust to team up with younger stars so that he can have a better chance to win over the next few years and so he won't have to do as much to compete in the playoffs. He's literally quitting in the face of adversity (again) and spinning it in a positive light by saying "I'm coming home." :facepalm
If he doesn't win 5+ rings while hopping around from favorable situation to favorable situation then he clearly doesn't belong anywhere near the class of warriors such as Kobe, Duncan, and Jordan.

well those 3 guys had the luxury of spending most of their careers being coached by the best coaches of all time and had a front office that surrounded them with multiple HOFs.
Lebron not so much.

Derek Anderson
David Robinson (36)
Antonio Daniels
Terry Porter (37)
Sean Elliott (kidney surgery)
Avery Johnson (35)
Danny Ferry (34)
Milk Rose
Tony Parker (shot a combined .483 TS% in his first two Playoff runs)
Relative to the competition, the early 2000s Spurs teams were every bit as underwhelming as LeBron's Cavs. Duncan did stick it out, and he eventually won though.
Now obviously Duncan has had more help throughout his career, as has Kobe, Shaq etc. But let's not act like LeBron was playing with high schoolers against the Shaq and Kobe dynasty every year. He had one of the best defenses behind him and he was going through the Arenas-less Wizards.

So Is kobe a loser compared to Horry? Is kobe a loser compared to Pippen? Pippen was more crucial to his 6 titles than kobe to his first 3 in total.
Idiot lebron haters. Judging individual greatness based on team accomplishments. God forbid you judge a player based on his actual production.

A favorable situation that has never won a title or made the playoffs since he left in a weak East. Ok. All the Cavs have added to their 33 win team from last year is 19 year old Andrew Wiggins. Before LeBron came the Cavs would've have been happy to just make the playoffs. Stop acting like LeBron went to Houston or teamed up with Melo in NY/LA.

Yet with no Jordan, Kobe, or Duncan, those coaches could easily be an afterthought in this league.

Do you not watch or follow sports media at all?
Hell, they don't even compare him to Kobe or Duncan, they go straight for Jordan. Had Jordan jumped around from favorable situation to favorable situation and finished just 2 for 5 in the finals with the GOAT choking performance to his name, then yeah, his career would be a huge disappointment relative to what it turned out to be.

Kobe asked to be traded in 2007, your thread fails
Duncan had 10 years of a stacked team, Kobe had 12 years of a stacked team
Jordan had 8 years of a stacked team
LeBron had 2 years of a stacked team (2011-2013)
If lebron had the same years with a stacked team you would make sense
you = fail

LeBron is the best ever thus far, and far far into the future. Championships don't determine you're greatness. Look at Kerr he sucks

Agreed, championships alone don't determine greatness, but its how you go about doing it that gets you remembered with the greats. AKA your legacy.
And right now LeBron is going to be remembered as a 2 for 5 journeyman who put on the GOAT choking display on the biggest stage and then ditched his team, 4 years after he did the exact same thing to Cleveland...

Lebron is a great player, but not nearly as good as the guys you mentioned, OP. The media and fans are perpetuating a lie to create buzz.
