In 2013 it was Golden State.

In 2014 it was Portland.

Who you got next?

Phoenix? New Orleans? Mavs?

New Orleans will be the big improver and I expect golden state to show what they can do with a healthy bogut in the playoffs and new coach.

I'd say the Suns were the biggest surprise team.

Nuggets if they get healthy.

And the Lakers (only the Jazz can rival them as the West's worst team).

Try again. They didn't even make the Playoffs. Portland came from nowhere.

Suns were expected to be a lottery team. Instead, they almost made the playoffs and would be a top 3 seed in the next conference and their second best player, at worst, missed half the season. Blazers probably take it but Suns should get a mention.

If davis can get the learning curve down and comprehend quickly , I can see New Orleans if he gets that takeover mentality.

I'll say New Orleans, but will there be a lot of surprised people if Spurs repeat?

Portland had the #1 seed for awhile.

Who would have predicted that they'd come out soo hot?

Suns. They would have made the playoffs in the East. I guess people expect them to do well again, so they wouldn't be a surprise, so next I would say the Pelicans.

i wish...i'm predicting ~30 wins. Again...

Anyway, I guess "surprise teams" are relative, right? Like the Jazz winning 35 games would be a surprise, no? I guess teams not living up to expectations are "disappointments", not "surprises"...so anyway, I'll say, surprise West teams are:

Blazers - yeah ppl say surprise team of 2013-14, but ultimately, they finished 5th. Granted, in the west, they just needed like 5 wins to be #2 seed, but I think they can get up to that top-tier #2 or #3 seed. which would live above general expectations, right? Therefore, a surprise!

Pelicans - I dunno if this would be a surprise, but I'd have them making the playoffs. But I think a lot of ppl are thinking that right...?

I guess that's it for me. I don't even know what'd be a good surprise. I am thinking Mavs and Grizzlies will "disappoint", though.

What's happened with Memphis this offseason? Any big moves? They were 7th seed, but could easily have been 4-5 if not for injuries

Portland was also suppose to be a lotto team. Portland was by far the bigger surprise

There really is no chance for a surprise team.

Nothing would be a true shock except for the Lakers or Jazz making the playoffs.

Even the Kings could be competitive.

But damn...it looks like there are going to be at least 11 teams battling for the playoffs next year.
