View Full Version : According to North Korean media, North Korea advanced past the group stage

This country's lunacy continues to amaze me.

In the East Asian nation's alternate reality, North Korea - who actually failed to quality - advanced past the group stage without conceding a single goal. They hammered rivals Japan and the United States 7-0 and 4-0, respectively, but took it a little easier on China, with whom they share close diplomatic relations.

There a video in the link: http://www.thescore.com/worldcup/news/536787

It might seem to crazy to us, but when your internet access is heavily censored and propaganda is the order of the day, not too hard to make people swallow it. Same things happened in communist Russia and China.

The US being the master film maker nation, just has mch more tact and subtlety in its own propaganda.

Love the Charlie Z reference, lol he's the North Korea of boxers

Stop being stupid and understand there is a place to joke and a place to not joke. This isn't a damn game. People are seriously at risk. Bran stans are much worse and need help.

uh, hey... it's not some kind of complex equation. they're raised on BS as little kids and those who stray tend to get sent to labor camps. research it as you wish.

lil kim probably scored all of N.Korea's goals as the primo striker in their minds.

not to mention, the US is many things, but i would say to you-- beware of overreaching assumptions, dudowski.

I know it's not complicated and I'm aware of the ridiculousness of the situation as well as the unstable mental condition of their dear leader.

I'm just saying every country does it depending on how much they can get away with. Kimmy is just so insane that he's on an absurdist level.

From stuff I have read, there are quite a few people (the ones that are relatively better off, but not in the government inner circle) in NK that realize significant parts of the government news is bullshit.

They find ways to get around firewalls access the real internet, but it has no real effect since everyone is too scared to do anything.

Also dont underestimate NK too much they could hit japan and south korea really hard. It would be the last thing they do, but they could devastate those two countries.

please. the US never took it even close to NK's (or various other countries') level. the mccarthy thing was the last gasp upon that sentiment, long ago, and for all that it still went down in flames.

i'm cool with this but your previous statement is pretty ridiculous. there is a HUGE difference when a country won't allow you to look at any other media, and they only feed you THEIR propaganda. That is NKorea...Kim Jong Un supposedly shot a perfect score in golf too.

Putin does the same thing to some degree with Russian media and has been pushing censorship a lot more since the 'western movement'...

Its the IN thing to pretend we're so propaganda'd here but its really not true. We can read any media we want, nobody is preventing us. Its just people don't read and they pretend they know. Foreigners tend to be way more clueless than we are....well some of us at least.

Its really the people who don't read much and go off of political party statements which are always exaggerated and twisted. You could read every event as it happened and remember it for yourself and be a lot more aware of the truth. Its just most people don't read current events daily, and get brainwashed from other peoples summaries which become popularized. Just like we went into Iraq for oil which every dumb foreigner says....theres a lot of shit like this people these days say because they connect dots and think everything is a conspiracy, when there is no validity to a lot of their claims.

We have so much freedom here its on us not to be brainwashed by political rhetoric, but sadly most people do not care to follow things daily to know, and then get propaganda'd from other peoples opinionated, slanted revisionist history. don't get me wrong there may be things we don't understand that are complicated which are summarized for us that we can be propaganda'd on, but for the most part a lot of it comes down to most people just want other peoples summaries of events as they happened, which are often twisted.

there is a CNN story on NKorean Black Market where young generations are being proactive to survive by stealing fruits and things, and setting up vendor tables to make money to survive. they seem to know they're fed propaganda by their government and they apparently follow stuff like kpop amongst other stuff when they can get a hold of it...., but when you're so oppressed with such harsh laws, they all probably have to at least pretend they're brainwashed.

SKorea has a lot of weapons pointed at the North as well. They'd blow each other up, but NKorea's regime would seriously get demolished quick considereing we have nuclear subs in/around that way i believe, and a military base in SKorea. We'd completely destroy NKorea's regime quick if it came down to it, just like we did Iraq's. Big problem would be the aftermath of refugees....which i think is one of China's biggest worries of someone ousting the NKorean regime.

i wish we'd give SKorea a missile defense system like we gave Israel....even if NKorea would go nuts and threaten war over it. maybe the South doesn't want it to avoid escalation, but damn that would do a lot to put SKoreans in a more secure state.

Thats what I have always assumed.

People have to know that the Kim dynasty is full of shit. Peoples grandparents were alive before Kim Ill sung came to power. They have to realize that a short fatass like Kim Jong Ill was not an amazing athlete. Human logic dictates this.

I have always assumed a lot of people pretend to worship because if they dont they will be sent to camp 14 or something.

Also the biggest issue with attacking North Korea that china needs a north korea to be viable or else its northern provinces would be overwhelmed with refugees which would be horrible for them and a reason for them to go to war. Also you eliminate a buffer between a us ally and china and it makes china look weak on the international stage.

Also its rarely mentioned but I think south korea would be even more devastated by the influx of refugees. If i was south korean I would be a little apprehensive about having to take care of so many 3 rd world people. Eg. West germans having to take on East germans, only much worse since north koreans are so much poorer.

Godzuki how do south koreans feel about this? Assuming North Korea's government falls, Is it ever talked about how a first world country of 50 million deals with incorporating a 3rd world country of 25 millioN?

yeah thing is Skoreans are very sympathetic to NKoreans and see each other as one people, which we are.

they're just horribly oppressed over there. and yeah theres really little room in SKorea for them, SKorea is a very crowded country, well more their cities.

Thats an easy sentiment to have now. Once they start asking you for welfare, I would like to see how south korean tax payers react

It is funny and sad at the same time. For us to think that the North Koreans don't know what is going is laughable. I am sure they know what is up but they can't do anything about it. Sometimes you just have to blend in with their society in order to stay alive.

Like someone mentioned, I am sure you can get around the censorship. Hackers are amazing at what they do.

The sad part? They are too afraid to stand up to the guy. The army is just too big for people to stand up to the regime. It has to happen within.

Lets be honest nobody is going to stand up to an army.

If you are lucky they will kill you. if not They will throw you in a concentration camp and torture and work you like a slave for the rest of your life.

There are plenty of real life accounts of North Korean defectors that have exposed the goverment's brainwashing tactics. They are literally brainwashed to the point of believing Kim Jong Un is a god.

Here's a North Korean woman's account (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/north-korean-defector-says-she-believed-kim-jongil-was-a-god-who-could-read-her-mind-9251983.html) of the regime's brainwashing.

theres a video clip out there of a i think Thai doctor who visited NKorea to cure people of cataracts. After he cured them, they'd go to this altar with Kim Jong Un's picture and praise him like he was the one who cured them with tears running down their eyes while they're on their knee's praising him.

I think its mostly older generation but younger ones are wisening up some, or i guess there is being more stuff snuck back and forth to wisen the younger generation up some.

and yeah i think most are truly brainwashed he is God probably.

you guys know whats his name visited NKorea? that poster here, Ced i think....

Yes, they have access to different povs and news sources. They are very sympathetic and believe the regime is evil, but the problem is not real to them like poverty is not real to those who have not experienced it.

As to dealing with the influx of refugees, the US would obviously help foot the bill.

There are about 30 posts of people going back and forth saying "Man, I feel sorry for north koreans, do they really believe this shit?" "Yeah, they are all brainwashed and believe anything", "No, it's not so much that they're brainwashed but they are afraid so they need to act like they believe" and so on.

And they're talking about a hoax which they all thought was true.
That's irony, isn't it? I don't know, I can never tell what is ironic.
