why are people acting like this is a bad signing? little long but otherwise he fits what they need perfectly. i think parsons is more expendable now.

Shit brother, you got to it first.

And they still plan on matching Parsons' offer sheet. :wtf:

How's that gonna work?

Dear lord it feels like their salary cap is like $25 million more than anybody elses... Morey is crushing it.

I'm kinda happy/sad about them not getting bosh. He would have been the perfect addition, but I don't want to see Bosh as a 3rd option again :coleman:

I won't be mad if we let Parsons go. 15 million is just way too much for him

8 million a year for Ariza is a steal. He's a great 3&D player.

What's the cap situation for Rockets now? And who are the targets?

Big loss for the Wizards. He should fit in well with Houston. Will they match Parsons offer sheet with Dallas? If they do, is Ariza then coming off the bench?

Rockets will make the finals this year.

Right now we are trying to re-sign our guy, Troy Daniels.

I think after that we're just going to upgrade the bench a little more.

They want to use Parsons as a stretch 4 a la Rashard Lewis in Orlando. that's why they tried to get Ryan Anderson from NO.

A stretch 4 to start next to Dwight is ideal for his offensive skill set.

This. What was Parsons commanding? Parsons is $15 million per year for 17/6/5 at 47% when Ariza is $8 million for 14/6/3 at 46%? Rockets just saved a lot of money for similiar production and someone who is more capable of defense.

might as well sign him because they wont have much cap flexibility either way.

they cleaned out cap room by dealing Lin+Asik. If they sign Parsons right now they are capped out. They have Parson's Bird rights, so they can sign him over the cap. They can't sign free agents over the cap. Right now the Rockets have "Use it or lose it" cap space.

basically:
Sign Ariza+Sign Parsons (pay some tax possibly)
Sign Ariza+Let Parsons walk to a rival
Sign Parsons, no more free agents

^pick one

Statlines are nice and all...but Parsons is just a vastly superior player compared to Ariza. I watched Ariza play when Wall was hurt all season two years back. Unless he's getting all sorts of open looks from 3 he's just plain BAD on offense. He doesn't even really move well in the half court to get open. He just stands around and is the beneficiary of much better players drawing his defender away from him. More than half of his shots were from 3, 96% of his 3's were assisted, and from watching the games I can tell you that most of them were completely uncontested off kickouts and in transition.

Trevor shot a decently higher % on 3's than Parsons, but by % he shot almost TWICE as many of his 3's from the short corner. 39.6% of Ariza's 3's came from the corner, as opposed to 21.4% of Parsons 3's.

According to the inside source, Spanoulis won't play in the NBA for less than $8 million a year. Unless it's the Spurs. That's the only NBA team he will play for at a discount. That's what he told NBA teams this summer that tried to sign him.

According to the inside source, he's supposed to be Manu's replacement on the Spurs as soon as Manu retires.

So yeah, you will be seeing him quite soon.

I'm okay with this. Ariza is a quality role player.

Morey signed him as the first option and failed. This time, he just needs to defer to Harden, Dwight and Parsons.

I think he'll fit the Rockets better than Parsons did. They made the right move if they plan on not resigning Parsons. They'll be just as good as last year if not better for almost 50% less money per year.

could be true:confusedshrug:

I'm not the one spending the money so I'd tell them go over the cap and get them both instead of choosing. Parsons can play small ball 4 and Ariza can guard 2's so they would be really really flexible. James Harden won't have to guard anyone next year lol

Oh for sure. That's the biggest reason they'd go after Ariza. Although I guess he fits their offensive philosophy pretty well. Stand as far away from Dwight as you can and watch James dribble :applause:
