A stretch 4 to start next to Dwight is ideal for his offensive skill set.

they cleaned out cap room by dealing Lin+Asik. If they sign Parsons right now they are capped out. They have Parson's Bird rights, so they can sign him over the cap. They can't sign free agents over the cap. Right now the Rockets have "Use it or lose it" cap space.

Sign Ariza+Sign Parsons (pay some tax possibly)
Sign Ariza+Let Parsons walk to a rival
Sign Parsons, no more free agents

Unless he's getting all sorts of open looks from 3 he's just plain BAD on offense. He doesn't even really move well in the half court to get open. He just stands around and is the beneficiary of much better players drawing his defender away from him. More than half of his shots were from 3, 96% of his 3's were assisted, and from watching the games I can tell you that most of them were completely uncontested off kickouts and in transition.

I think he'll fit the Rockets better than Parsons did. They made the right move if they plan on not resigning Parsons. They'll be just as good as last year if not better for almost 50% less money per year.

I'm not the one spending the money so I'd tell them go over the cap and get them both instead of choosing. Parsons can play small ball 4 and Ariza can guard 2's so they would be really really flexible. James Harden won't have to guard anyone next year lol
