We desperately need a SF and Ariza could be had for $8 mil per? Instead of doing that or something similar (Isaih Thomas 4yrs for $27 mil), they pay Jordan Hill 9mil per to take a short contract.

Have they learned nothing from this summer? Superstar FAs will take the same money elsewhere to play with an actual roster. Freeing up cap-room gets you SHIT!!!!

The only explanation I could give is they have their eyes set on Durant in 2016. No need for Ariza then since they both play the same position..

Yeah cos Durant will turn down 30+mil plus to play in LA? Melo didn't, why would KD?

Or Maybe Ariza is only willing to play for 8 million if the team is actually a playoff team?

It's called player development. Lakers should try it some time instead of banking on superstar free agents and crooked trades.

Don't think we even have a pick except late first round next draft, so can't even tank:lol
Just going to be horribly bad. At least we get to witness Kobe try for the scoring record

It's what Kobe does best - putting up empty stats on bad teams.

Lakers are trying to give out 2 year deals to stay flexible when Kobe's contract is up. Any player who has leverage isn't going to take a 2 year deal when they can get a 4-5 year deal.

This

I'll add Ariza isn't a foundation of the franchise difference maker he's the final piece to the puzzle for a team that's looking to shore up some gaps not a building block...

It's why he's on his 7th different team in his 11th year
