The Pistons can't afford to keeping both Josh Smith and Greg Monroe and Monroe's new salary is reportedly being worked at a 12M/year range, which looks like a bargain considering the new Gordon Hawyard, Chandler Parsons deals.

Not a title contender but will make the East more interesting. I'm frustrated that the Heat aren't linked to Greg Monroe closer.

He's a restricted free agent. It's gonna be hard to sign him because Detroit said they would match almost any offer. Heat would have to give him damn near the max which would make him well overpaid.

He sucks at defense
Didn't stop teams from throwing the bank at Carmelo or giving up the house for Kevin Love.

Those guys are good for 25/10....
I'd rather have paid Monroe a max of 14 than Bosh 21 (and 25 in a few years when he sucks).

Lakers should have thrown a MAX deal at him as well. Make Detroit come up with the money.

Why are you mentioning Monroe in the same breath as Mr. Anthony and Mr. Love? Take defense away completely, he's no where near the offensive players they are.

Monroe is actually a very good man defender, he just isn't a great team/help defender. Offensively, he has a solid post game, both scoring and passing. On the right team he could definitely develop into a 20/10/3/2/1 on 50% type player... which is elite level.
