they wouldn't pay a extra $1 mill~ to keep Isaiah Thomas instead of that wishy washy scrub Collison?

IT is WAAAAAAY better than Darren Collison. WAY BETTER.

do they watch basketball? what kind of sense does this make?

maybe this was posted before, but just saw the Kings signed Collison on a 3 year $15 mill.....while IT signed with Phx for 4 years $27mill.

this is why you can never assume 'professionals' know wtf they're doing. i BET Ray Mccallum will take over Collison's starting spot once they realize he has no consistency.

All that tells you is the IT departure had more to do than just money.

This. After he was signed he went on Twitter and wrote something to the effect of "Happy to be going someplace where I am wanted." I think the Kings overlooked the guy because he doesn't have prototypical size. Lousy teams usually overemphasize things stuff like that over whether or not a guy can actually play out on the court.

IT asked for $8-9m. The Kings didn't want to pay up. They got rid of a 20ppg scorer for a backup PG.

This is why the Lakers keep poaching talent, GM's like this are those who gave Shaq to us and traded Kobe :applause:

Last year, the Kings signed Carl Landry, 32 year old sixth man big, for $26 million over four years

This year, the Kings balked at signing Isaiah Thomas, 24 year old arguably a starter, for $27 million over four years.

I don't understand.

Kings are idiots

Silver needs to get someone competent to run that team before the value of it falls

I think they just weren't sold on the size.
I don't know, they have Cousins at the C. Rudy Gay as a SF.
I would have thought it was worth keeping him.

I don't think you're losing much at all in a playoff scenario having him against Lillard, Westbrook. I think Chris Paul would pose some serious problem for him though.

With Bledsoe, the King is more so saying they very much intend to keep Rudy Gay beyond this season, and they put a lot of stock in him. Probably because of the concern with elite SF like Durant and co. And they think that the mismatch with Cousins at Center gives them the edge.

Big Guards are really difficult to find, and maybe they didn't think they could find one to put next to IT. He's going to put up 25-30 minutes a game at this stage of his career wherever he plays really. Maybe 20 on a stacked championship team.

Because I don't know if a defensive 2 at 6'3, 6'4 would have been enough to keep Thomas on the floor as a starter.

Once Rudy Gay opted in IT become expandable, I didn't mind them replacing him with DC but they could have at least tried to get a shot blocker like John Henson or the Plumee kid in return for him instead they got nothing.

The Kings would have kept Thomas had Rudy Gay opted out, plus people are just going on stats, IT put up a lot of empty stats where as Collison as a starter had a insane win % with the Clippers.

While it's not a upgrade it's certainly not a downgrade and Collison is probs a better fit next to Cousins and Gay.

This is a lateral move unlike the signing of Thompson and Landry which have raped us for minimum benefit.
