Pretty solid. It's hard to judge a PG in summer league because the offense will be run different with the actual team.

He will take some time to develop, but he can contribute off the bench right away I think. Hamilton and Ennis have looked good. I think they both make the team.

I understand it a bit more with how Payton played in summer league, not sure I like it because I still think Exum is going to be a great player (plus I'm australian) but I understand more now why orlando felt they could pass on him if they had been really high on Payton.

can't remember who it was but during one of the orlando summer league games the were talking about how a guy who'd bounced around summer league teams thought orlando summer league was far tougher and less flashy. Grain of salt though as it's one players opinion and they are both pretty poor to be honest. You can't deny Exum looks good though, he hasn't had a big impact but his moves are smooth and his handle looks great for a guy his size who has his mind set on being a point. His cross over and drive looks real smooth, when he bulks up and can finish well with it it'll be dangerous combined with his passing.

Dude why are you in every jameer thread these days trying to talk shit? You post in threads saying summer league is a joke and means nothing then you post in other threads talking up players from summer league games. Try being unbiased and having an opinion that isn't influenced by who you have grudges against for a change.

Vegas looks way more flashy.
I agree about Exum. That first step looks deadly and he's got better vision than I expected. However, his attitude and defensive effort isn't where it should be. Don't think he has the vision Payton has, but definitely a good passer.

Just by watching the highlights (I'm not watching the game), he seems to have some on-ball defense? There's a hustle play in the highlights.

He does seem to absolutely stink of potential though. It's a shame the West is so ridiculously stacked. They'll still finish close to bottom..

Would have to wait till around his 4th game to make a statement such as "blah > blah". Still, it is just Summer League.

I never said summer league is a joke but I laugh at people who freak out because someone on their favorite team had a decent game against nbdl scrubs. Gary Harris had probably the best game of anyone in any game and you don't see me making 7 threads about him.

Jameer is a big boy. If he wants to troll and ruin this board then he can deal with all the shit he will get from everyone else. It's 100% his fault.

Even you know he is a huge homer who back tracks all the time and makes a lot of useless threads.

The only reason payton gets traps thrown at him is because he turn the ball over so much.

:facepalm duh? Why else would you high trap a point guard? You're trying to force a turnover. If you know a guy coughs it up a lot and can't break double teams then you trap him.

Nah, there are other reasons.

For instance, teams trap Curry because he can make threes from a couple feet behind the arc. They also know none else on the team can playmake.

But the main reason for high trapping a point guard is to slow down the tempo, a common feature of most grindhouse teams.

Definitely think the Magic missed out by passing on him. Exum has superstar potential, Gordon at best will be a good starter. If you can snag a potential superstar in the draft you need to do it.

I don't think we can declare Gordon's cap yet, he is a long way off the player he will turn out to be. I must admit I would feel happier with Exum on the orlando roster though.

I have to say, those highlights were impressive. Very quick, excellent first step, under control and nice vision. With that length, he has the tools to be a very special player.

I'm not going to go too far based on one set of Summer League highlights, but there is something about this kid... an "it" factor. Very impressive. Jazz fans should be very pleased.

Don't get that comparison at all. The kid appears to be completely unselfish which could have never described Kobe.

I'm assuming he's going to play the 2 this year, we'll see how he does. They have a very nice 3 man guard rotation.

I'd guess he'll be playing 1,2, and 3. He's got more of a point guard mentality than Burke and we certainly don't want John Lucas on the floor. They've got at least 4 quality guards. Hayward will spend time at the 2 with Hood at the 3 I imagine.

People who are shitting on Orlando (or Jameerthefear, to be exact) need to stop ignoring what they have in Elfrid Payton and how he did in SL.

I know Exum is good and going to be better, but why does it always have to be like this on ISH? Trashtalk and just annoying posts.

The Magic wanted to pair him and a forward with Oladipo to form a defensive powerhouse with decent offense, over Exum. That forward is a project in Aaron Gordon. Sure, he won't be LeBron and he won't be Magic Johnson, few are, if any, but he's promising and needs time to develop. It's not like the Magic were aiming for the Finals this year. Give him time to work on his game. He's 18 years old and forwards often need more time to get their game together.

Why all the hostility here? Grow up.

This is Elfrid Payton, who so many of you choose to ignore to hype up Exum as the second coming of Kobe and how Magic failed miserably in passing on him:

Vs. Pistons - 18pts, 8asts, 4stls
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB8eR4Sbe9w

Vs. Rockets - 12pts, 9asts, 8rebs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrbbQpXdZmY

Vs. Celtics: 8pts, 10asts, 9rebs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nS2cC_sm5MQ

Please, somebody tell me Payton sucks and bring solid reasons why.
