I hope Napier plays better than he has in Summer League, because if he doesn't he's not starting PG by any stretch.
I hope to see Bosh back to getting over 20 points per game and not living at the three point line.
It will be interesting to see how they handle playing Wade.

How's his defense? Playing for Thibs, he has to be pretty good, right?
Defense is where they'll miss LBJ the most. It's also the area of Wade's game I'm most concerned about now.
LeBron is a great, albeit overrated, defender, but more important is the role he played in the Heat's defensive system.
Absolutely no more small ball anymore. You can't have a wing as the anchor of your defense now.

Worse than LeBron man to man, by far. Pretty good team defender. Not as versatile. He can't guard lighting quick PGs through PFs. Doesn't have the size or lateral quickness. Good effort, rotations, team defender though. Long money arms to contest shots.

This is gonna show how valuable and how much impact Lebron has considering Deng is like a 2nd tier replacement. Miami vs Cleveland at ECF would be intriguing because a lot of storylines can be made. Cleveland will be there but not sure about Miami.

LeBron isn't bad man to man, but he gets wore out given all his energy usage on the floor. Loses intensity for it, or focus. I've seen him stay in front of Tony Parker, Derrick Rose, and guard Pau Gasol before. Deng is a decent man defender, LeBron is a good man defender.

I really think Deng can help with that. He's struggled the last few seasons because he's been called to initiate the offense more with Rose out, then last season he played on a back achilles pretty much all season.
He used to shoot above 37% consistently.

This. If you look at DraftExpress's LeBron James Free Agency Scouting Video this is one of his weaknesses. He shoulders so much offensively sometimes he becomes disinterested in defense depending more on team help defense or just doesn't have the energy to stay in front of his man.

To admit I was wrong about Deng. I thought he was going to get $12 to $13 million, considering he turned down $10 million for three years with the Bulls. It seems like with this two year deal he's hoping he has a couple good seasons then in 2016 and the cap increase he can cash in one last time.

Deng has always been a great mid-range shooter who had improved his range to become a decent 3-point shooter under Thibs, but his wrist injury kinda messed up his shooting. Hopefully he's 100% coming into the season. Above average defender (although overrated) and decent rebounder for his position and has great attitude. Wish him good luck.

Would've been such a good team as well... he woulda fit perfect. I'm disappointed. Ferry did all he could I guess. He was going hard for Deng but I guess people prefer beaches than weed. Sad.

Horford was a 20/10 player last season before he got injured.
Milsap was averaging 17 and 8 a game.
Korver is arguably the best 3 point shooter in the league right now.
Teague is a rising point guard who is on break out watch.
Deng could've played with these starters and then...
Demarre Carroll would've been an awesome back up for him. He is a 3-n-D player.

Huh?
His contract was expiring. It was basically a tryout of a free agent that they might pursue. And, if it were a tryout, he would have failed it miserably.
Also, Deng was being paid far more than $10 million a year for last season I believe.
Besides, you misread my post. I said $10 million a year WASN'T an awful contract.

Jailblazers7

What's their cap situation now? Do they have room for to go after a vet PG like Jameer?
The rest of the space will be allocated for Wade and UD. Also the Heat will be able to re-sign Birdman, while going over the cap as well. They will have a room exception, which is 2.7 million. That could be used on Chalmers, should they go in that direction (I would prefer not, but it's an option).

For just 2 years, not a bad signing. I don't think he will age well though, so at least he won't clog up the cap for 3-4 years. At least Miami has the promising Ennis to spare him some minutes. Seems more like a treading water-type move. Cleveland fans on here said he at times moved terribly. Perhaps with a change of scenery and restored health he will be better next year. Just worried about his mileage and how Miami won't look that much younger/spry with Granger & Deng getting minutes.
FWIW, Lowe said Aminu finished as 7th best defensive SF in league last year (according to 1 metric). Potentially could have been had for minimum-type money, or even BAE (I didn't like Granger signing-$ could have gone elsewhere to get some young defender). James Johnson could have been an interesting look. Obviously Deng's better offensively than all these guys and they got him for less than he originally asked, but they need to sprinkle some youth in imo.
Kinda wish Miami would have gambled and thrown Monroe near-max money to fix their rebounding issue and to have a legit big man post player in their starting line-up (I don't think Bosh wants to be that guy anymore, but he said that prior to LBJ leaving). I'm intrigued how an up-and-coming Monroe would play next to an established guy like Bosh. Throw potentially Birdman and McRoberts into the mix and I like that big man rotation in the EC.

Sure if this was 1990's NBA.
Remember when people thought OKC frontcourt would rape Bosh in the Finals? Look at how that turned out...
And how did Noah look this past playoffs against Nene and Gortat?
No big in the league is capable of raping anybody anymore.

It's possible. Bosh is still anchoring the defense. :facepalm

You don't think a team with a core of Bosh-Wade-Deng can get past the first round? Especially if they have a top 4 seed?
Only thing that could derail them would be Bosh or Wade suffering a season-ending injury.
A Young Wade won a championship with a worse squad. Hopefully he's not so far gone he can't make it out of the first round :oldlol:
I like ya man, but as I've said many times... and will continue to say: 05 and 06 Heat might not have been "all time" stacked, but I think they could play with just about any team in NBA history assuming that they were playing at average or above level. They had potential to play bad because they had a lot of streak shooters.
But man they had a really solid squad. I dunno how anyone can act like that wasn't a very good team.

Bosh didnt turn soft until 2013. And OKC has no front court offense at all.

I think they're likely a second round team, but Wade doesn't need to suffer a major injury to be diminished. Is he still going to sit 30 games next year? Will he have the stamina to make it through the season being the primary wing scorer now?

Ibaka and Perkins aren't good scorers, they were never going to rape anybody.
Noah is a great player but he averages 11ppg, he's not going to kill you in the low post. There are still bigs who can tear up weak frontcourts in the playoffs, just not very many.
Look at what Aldridge did to Houston this year.

lol no wonder they signed the two bran stoppers in mcroberts and granger.
riley knew that bran didn't have the guts to stay in miami.
pat riley
now how much cap space do they have if they resign wade at a near max contract

is jason terry still alive?
The funny thing is that Marion was supposedly going to talk with the Heat and see what happens. So maybe the "Bran-stopper" theory might have some value

Wow. This is definitely a legitimate, not just starter caliber but all-star caliber replacement for a GOAT-caliber player. It will be interesting to see how much LeBron means versus a run-of-the-mill all-star. See, Mike, THIS is what happened when you leave in July and not October...this is not exactly a D-Leaguer like Pete Myers.

Gotta admit Heat recovered A+ when losing their best player.

Dis nigguh :oldlol:
Let's forget the Bulls added guys like Kukoc, Kerr, Longley, etc before turning into a .500 team once Grant left.
But maybe after Bron's 2 year deal is up and he tucks tail and runs back to Miami they'll win 72 games and accomplish a 3-peat? :confusedshrug:
Spurs put the kibosh on the first 3-peat attempt doe :oldlol:

Longley, the dominantor, was not added until after the all-star break.
:applause: for LeBron giving his team enough time to find a competent replacement for him versus being forced to resort to the D-League.

I've always thought he was overrated, but I did notice he was playing some good ball just before being traded to the Cavs, then he seemed to slump. Hopefully he can bring that form into the Heat.
He's only 29 after all, and he was playing his best season prior to being traded... Hopefully he's hungry to win. I think Riley already knew about Lebron leaving hence all the signings with players he had a run in with. I'm sure the Deng signing is in line with that in terms of him being a so called "Lebron stopper", but he really isn't.
We'll see how it plays out though.

Oh come on... :oldlol:
That's the only thing I'm pissed about in terms of his leaving. The fact he left us in a shitty situation. Waited too long, didn't sign and trade like he did with the Cavs, we got nothing in return, etc.
If Granger is actually healthy and can get some good minutes he could be a 12-15ppg 6th MOY candidate, and this Heat team could be quite dangerous.
I honestly believe he simply lost his spot in Indiana due to a younger, slightly better version of him emerging while he was injured.

If only Wade was in his prime, we might actually gotten to see a Wade vs LeBron playoff series. Only reason why I ****ing hated it when LeBron chose to come here. Grateful for the two chips but would be lying if I said I liked when he joined us.

NBA has a funny way of making things happen. Mavs getting their revenge after all these years, Spurs getting their revenge on the Heat, Cavs one upping the Heat by getting these picks and then getting Bron back for free.
Maybe it's our time to get ahead in one of these battles? Or maybe not. Maybe we get gifted some championships every now and then, and then we get jilted out of any real progress or growth from inside the team. Who knows? It's fun being a Heat fan though. We're always in the midst of it, and something is always going down, particularly with Riley at the helm.
