Anyway, I have a feeling those bloody Spurs are going to get Marion :(

Of course, Rockets have a lot of cap space now, but they also have holes to fill. They lost Asik, Lin, and Parsons. Got Ariza.

I think Rockets now have about $18 million in cap space now?

Seems like to me the salaries are about 49 mill...cap is at like 63? 14 mill...

It isn't about Parsons for 15 million a year.

It is about Dirk/Parsons for 25 million a year.

Let that sink in for a second. 25 million for Dirk/Parson is basically the same as what Bosh got paid in Miami. And Melo got paid in NY.

Which is the better buy? Dirk/Parsons for sure. Great VALUE!

Dirk will be done in a year or 2, and you end up paying 15mil for a role player.

Ahhh shit I'm gonna miss Chandler Parsons in Houston. I wish him luck in Dallas even though we're rivals.

Now the Rockets have a lot of cap space. Even though I like Chandler, I didn't want him back because $15 million a year is just wayyy too much for a good role player.

waive Felton or don't play him and the Mavs will be alright.

DMAVS41
07-13-2014, 06:40 PM
Well, I guess this is better than what was left...but don't like what we did at all here to be honest. I like Parsons, but if we had moved early on guys...we could have had;

Thomas and Ariza for the price of Parsons.

We are a much better team that way.

Or, we could have landed Thomas, Carter, and a 5 million a year small forward for the price of Parsons.

But Parsons is a really good player that fits in very well on this team.

Our defense is still going to be crappy though.

Mr Exlax
07-13-2014, 06:41 PM
Gonna miss him but that's too much for a role player. He wouldn't have room to improve to earn that paycheck here since we have Harden and Howard. We shouldn't be considered good until we get a coach

Fatal mistake with second round picks. This is the third time this has happened.

Golden State let Gilbert Arenas out early so they could sign him long term. He ****ed them and signed with the Wizards.

Cavs let Boozer out early for the same reason. Went to the Jazz.

Parsons continues the trend.

The only big-time 2nd round pick that didn't pull this was Manu. Dat loyalty.

Mo Williams.

Yea, he makes sense. Just not sure 2.7 a year is enough, but I really like our team with him.

Harris/Mo/Felton
Ellis/Mo/Ledo
Parsons/Jefferson/Crowder
Dirk/Wright
Chandler/Smith/James

Not bad at all...definitely considerably better than last year in my opinion. But still don't think this was the optimal way to build the team.

Thomas was the play for us at less than 7 a year.

Locked_Up_Tonight
07-13-2014, 06:47 PM
DMav, he has met with the Mavs twice. He wants to play here. It should definitely be enough if the Mavs want to go that direction.

UK2K
07-13-2014, 06:48 PM
Parsons was good but he's not 2x as good as Ariza. Sucks to see him go but Rockets need defense and 15m is waaaay too much for him.

Rockets have 11m in cap space left. We'll see what happens. They can hold it or take a contract like Rondo when Boston realizes they blow and want first round picks (which Houston has a lotto and late first for next draft).

Nice signing. Little bit of an overpay, but when you have the chance to steal a talented young player like this (especially from a division rival), I think you have to take it. A lot of teams clear cap space for stars and end up striking out. It's a lot of $ but Morey overthought himself here - thinking he could land a big fish FA and ended up worse than before. Now he's out Lin, Asik, Parsons and a 1st and he only has Ariza to show for it atm. Parsons shouldn't have become an RFA.

Hmm..what happens with Marion now? Maybe he gets minutes at PF? If the Mavs can find a solid PG they'll be in business. Would be nice to have a spark off the bench like Vince too.

Good move by Houston.

How? They could have kept Parsons for one more year, but Morey let him out of the deal.

Total backfire. They lost Lin, Parsons, and Asik for nothing. It's pretty clear that whatever Morey had planned didn't work.

DirkNowitzki41
07-13-2014, 07:05 PM
The amount of money the Mavs offered kinda takes the sting out. I think he'll be worth the money for you guys. Great coaching and teammates. He just wouldn't have the room to blossom into a really good player here.

True.

They lost their 2015 1st too.

6-8 seed at best in the west. Could get rough if Dwight or Harden miss any time. Lookin like they'll be out in the first round again since they'll end up playing a top seed.

Love the front court going into next season (Chandler/Dirk/Parsons)... hate the backcourt (Monta/Felton/Harris) especially after losing Carter. Felton is lol worthy, never been a fan, def their weak link so far without having watched a game. And Monta is great, borderline AS at times, but not a stellar shooter or decision maker... Parsons imo is overrated, inflated role/shot attempts in Houston's fast pace offense, but he will really fit in on the Mavs (more sound roster and much better coach) so it'll be easier to hide. Him and Dirk will mesh well

Pretty sure Cuban, the billionaire, and his advisors know what they are doing..

Just glad Lin's not a part of that mess of a team anymore. Not saying LA is better but it's LA...it's just a matter of time before they become a contender again. Houston, with Morey playing nba2k...you guys are going to see a brand new team every year and every year rockets fans will use the same excuse of "new team no chemistry" for all the first round exits that are bound to be coming year after year.

This is the second time Ariza has played really well in a contract year.

Houston shot themselves in the foot by not matching on Parsons, a young and steadily improving stud.

HORRIBLE move by the Rockets and I think it had something to do with players being jealous of Parsons.
