Morey doesnt give a **** about his players. I feel bad for the players on his team, they could get traded at any moment regardless of how well they play

Tell me about it. "Nope, I'm not going to pay Parsons 900K this year. Oh shit, he's getting $13 million a year, sign Ariza. ****. At least we still are getting Bosh. Oh wait. ****. At least we still have Lin...shit ****."
Houston has had one of the worst off-seasons this year in making mistakes. The Parson and Bosh stuff really bit them in the ass. They need to get rid of McFail.

Sometimes Morey just does too much. He thinks everytime he does something, there will be a good outcome. Nope, that's not always going to happen. Hope he learned his lesson.

Right. Sometimes doing too much isn't good.

This is what happens when you treat players like game pieces. Disastrous offseason for that franchise.

He allowed Parsons to get a bigger contract a year early and got ****ed.
Should have treated him as an asset instead and paid him 900k.

A big 2 surrounded by nothing but scrubs. Guess Jones is ok.
Great job Morey.

Sorry for Rocket fans, man.
Eh they traded Lin, Asik (who played barely half the season), and Parsons at 15m for NO lotto pick and Ariza at 8m and have 11m in cap space. I think they're just fine.

The rockets aren't far off, they just didn't really make much of this off-season.
Harden and Dwight will continue to be the longest tenured players. Until they decide to leave. If Morey lets either of them go for any reason, then it becomes a problem.
I honestly feel like they should have just matched Parson's offer. He'd likely improve this season even more.

Morey could have traded Jordan in his prime and you'd make up some lame ass excuse for him. Grow some balls and quit blindly agreeing to everything your team does just because it's your team.
Morey doesnt give a **** about winning (he just wants marketable players regardless of chemistry).

And I got laughed at right after the Harden trade when I told Houston fans they should have just hung onto their assets and tanked for 2-3 years

Enjoy your first round exits year after year.

- Traded Aaron Brooks away for Goran Dragic. Then they re-sign Brooks in 2013 only to trade him a year later for Jordan Hamilton.
- Waived Carlos Delfino straight-up (in order to sign Dwight) despite being a starter and having a career year in stats
- Signed Trevor Ariza to a 5 year contract in 2009 only to trade him a year later, in which they got Courtney Lee in return. Then they sign Ariza AGAIN this offseason to a 4 year contract.
- Had Jeremy Lin on the 2010 roster, waived him. Sign him back a year and a half later to a 3 year, backloaded deal. Then trade him 2 years later.
oh the horror

There's really no excuse. They've gotten considerably worse over this offseason.
Hopefully the fill in the blanks because right now they're looking like a for sure first round exit team.

Making the first round > tanking. The Timberwolves have been tanking since 2004 and aren't any closer to winning a championship.

So they trade Asik for NO's 2015 1st, but then give their own away to dump Lin. Then lose Parsons for nothing. So basically Parsons, Asik, and Lin to move up a few spots in next years draft. :facepalm

I believe it was a 2017 first.
NO 2015 > Houston 2017

Asik wanted gone anyway. He wanted gone the day we signed Dwight. So we got rid of a disgruntled player who played half the season for a lotto pick.
Leaves a hole down low but couldn't have asked for more.

No, it's your 2015 pick (lottery protected). Then top 10 protected in '16/'17, or top 5 protected in '18.

Nah, he cares about winning...he just takes his advanced stats approach/philosophy garbage to a ridiculous extreme. It's pretty apparent he doesn't value chemistry or good coaching at all. He really does act like he's playing nba 2k games.

Actually, Delfino was out the entire year anyways due to some sort of injury.
No, it's your 2015 pick (lottery protected). Then top 10 protected in '16/'17, or top 5 protected in '18.The Los Angeles Lakers have made a trade with the Houston Rockets, acquiring guard Jeremy Lin as well as a future first round draft pick and a second round draft pick in 2015 (acquired by Houston in an earlier deal with the L.A. Clippers) in exchange for the rights to Sergei Lishchuk, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
So future is next years draft? I don't know I haven't heard anything about it since it broke.

The analytics is a little extreme, but he hasn't made a move yet that wasnt the smart move. He could have kept Parsons and paid him scraps but people were complaining it wasn't fair to Parsons.
He got rid of two pissed off players and didn't match a 15m offer for a role player. He got Ariza for half the price and a NO lotto in the process. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Problem is he shuffles the deck every year. I don't even think shuffling the deck is the right word in his case :oldlol:
Come to think of it, the longest tenured Rockets might actually be Jones and D Mo...as they played in preseason before the Harden trade. That's pretty damn extreme.
Considering he treats all his players like assets he might as well have done the same with Parsons and just continued to pay him scraps. 15m/year is pretty much certainly overpaying Parsons so I'm undecided on his decision to let him go, but I don't think he should've let it get to that point in the first place.

He's definitely playing 2k with the roster, but there hasn't been a move made yet that I would say was a bad one. The team was set up for a title run had Bosh not been after the money, which I don't blame him for, but adding him would have made Houston finals favorites.
Yeah it didn't work out, but I can't bash the guy for making moves that put the team in a position to make a run. He took a team with three straight #14 picks and now has the best SG and C (arguably) in the league, without ever tanking. He's doing something right.
The Lin/Asik pick ups were good until they had better players added at their positions, so understandably they were disgruntled. He did what any good GM would do and moved them.
Had we added a Bledsoe/Stephenson with the 17m in cap we had, and added an MLE 6th man to boot, they'd be contenders more so than last season. Why we didn't is probably the only move he's made that I think was not beneficial. I'm upset we didn't land a solid 3rd playmaker, but overall the team lost two bench players from a #4 seed team, in the process keeping enough cap room for a team like Boston to unload salary when they realize that Rondo is only hurting their tanking strategy.
It is what it is.
..
Thanks for clearing it up

I mean he definitely made some pretty good moves before, allowing the Rockets to bypass the tanking stage and finding some hidden gems. He had the Rockets in a fairly good spot, but I think he got too overconfident and overplayed his hand. I think Morey treating all his players like assets and disregarding chemistry will hurt the Rockets in the long run. Not to mention not doing anything about McHale...
They've only downgraded so far in the offseason, though the roster's probably not close to finalized. Then again, I'm not even sure which assets they have now to trade anymore...maybe just Jones/DMo?

Jones/DMo, Daniels if they want, NO probable lotto pick, and some Euro guys.
Parsons would have been untradeable had they kept him with his contract, and his D wasn't much better than Hardens.
Its really a question of what they do with the remaining cap space. Sign nobody, and it this off season turns to shit.
