View Full Version : Knicks get Love or is it LarrySanders or Josh Smith

You know Phil's not sitting on his ass waiting for something to come knock on his door like all these idiots think. "Oh just wait for 2015 or 2016" superstar is coming for nothing but cap space
So you know he's about the make another big trade.
Calderon
Jr smith
Carmelo
_______
Bargnani
So who will Phil get to put in there? Love, sanders, or Smith?
"Knicks have nothing to give"? Bullsht
Amare, Hardaway, Jeramy Tyler, thanasis, cleanthony early, Ellington, shumpert, Larkin, prigioni or dalembert. There's a combination in there good enough to get one of those 3.
The Knicks are way more in the middle of the love budding because of the ability to take in other contracts and it being the only bidder not trying to hold onto a single guy like gs is w thompson, or Cleveland is w wiggins
And even if it's sanders or smith? Watch out. Which of those 3 guys do you think the Knicks will trade for?

of the names mentioned, smith would be my only guess, because no doubt the pistons are desperate to let him (that contract) go
no way they get love
and im willing to bet sanders is off the market. jkidd wanted to trade lopez for him last year. so no doubt he wants to coach the guy.

LOL @ OP.
You have two second round picks listed in your list of "assets", including one taken at #51.
Do you seriously think A) he is ever going to play in the league and if so B) you can trade him in a package to get a top 10 player.
Do you comprehend the disconnect we are talking about here?

If Minny won't give Love without Wiggins in a deal, you really think they're gonna want any of those players you listed?
I don't know how any of those players would fit on the Pistons either. It's not a rebuilding team anymore and they signed a guy like Meeks to a huge contract so they don't need an SG. Even if they wanted to get rid of Smith's contract, they can get better than that.
Larry Sanders is the same case. They can get better than that if they want him gone. I think the funniest part of the whole post is that you listed Jeremy Tyler as an asset. I'm sorry but THAT is desperation :oldlol: .

Minny won't deal love to Cleveland? That's my point, other teams are falling out for having too much to offer and not being willing to put their best offer out there. The Knicks have kept their best offer out there and improved it.

speaking a bit early. You soon will realize that pick and roll is no longer the only offense other than stand around and ISO. Amare doesn't fit this new system. People that laugh about the part of getting amare in the trade as a negative are crazy. There are a lot of teams he could fit, there are a lot of teAms he could help, there are a lot of teams he could lead. Just not this system and this team.
Beast in the pick and roll? He's already had those chances in ny. Now it's on to multi dimensional players like Carmelo, bargnani, and Jr

Andrea Bargnani and JR Smith for Josh Smith (from the Pistons).
Phil has coached problems in Dennis Rodman and Ron Artest, he can deal with Josh Smith, return him to his form in Atlanta and improve his decision-making.
The Pistons would clear themselves of Josh's contract, since Bargnani is an expirer, and then next year let JR go.

I value his expiring contract, and the fact that he made big contributions to the team as he was healthier than we've seen in 3 years. Who are you dumping the ball down low to? You say he's had chances? Under who's leadership? And again, you are as quick to dismiss STAT on our team as you are to praise your beloved Bargnani, who has shown little game and no heart.
I would love to hear your take on Phil Jackson - your opinion of him as a decision-maker and evaluater, as opposed to just the trade threads you keep devising.

Actually if Amare actually passed sometimes when he gets the ball in the post he would be perfect for the triangle. He can shoot the mid range j is good in the post all he's missing is passing.

In my trade scenario, JR Smith gets moved.
But I doubt NY will do this deal, since it would affect cap space for next season.
The Knicks next year should have about 20 million in cap space, and get another 4 million by using the stretch provision on JR Smith. Taking on Josh Smith would cut the available cap space for next year to 14 million, not enough for a max level contract offer (unless the Knicks moved out another big contract).

Capspace is fools gold. The Knicks need to trade for whatever big salaries they get and not drop down to a 50 million dollar payroll for the shot in the dark that a big fa will show up on their doorstep for free
Bargnani might be traded. For Kevin love. Other than that- he, jr, and Carmelo are the core so far so why not come up w a trade that doesn't include those 3? Are the bucks, pistons, and wolves the only targets?

Well the triangle also HAS to have a good post player to work, not saying J-Smoove or Sanders would be great at playing on the block, but who is on the Knicks roster right now?

I agree with this somewhat. I think they have a decent shot at Gasol (Memphis is going to offer him the max), but so would the Knicks and the shot to play in the perfect system for him and next to a legit superstar in Melo. But, I wouldn't be shocked if he stayed in Memphis (even though I would say there shot at any type of a run would end after this upcoming year).
But, I'm pretty positive that as long as he isn't traded into an ideal situation, if the Knicks want to force Rondo to fit, they could definitely get him.
Other than that there's not much out there in 2015. Their best bet is to go hard after Love or Gasol or potentially another disgruntled big name, and try to trade for them by any means necessary. The Knicks will have serious cap space, but it could go really bad if they miss out on these guys.

I think there's 4 reasons Gasol would come over to NY...
1.) Phil Jackson in charge. The pedigree speaks volumes.
2.) Familiarity with Calderon and Prigi
3.) Playing with Carmelo as opposed to Randolph. Zack is a great talent, but not the caliber of Melo
4.) You have a much better shot of going further in the playoffs considering it's the East and this team is on the rise - no doubt.

Carmelo is one of the best post up 3's in the history of the league. What don't you get? You know who was the bulls best player in the post? Jordan. You know where Kobe made it w the lakers? Yeah he was the other of the top 2 post playing 2's of all time.
Maybe the confusion comes from not realizing that positions are defensive. When your players have unique offensive skills it's Ok to use them.

To "post up" is to establish a position in the low post, the area near the basket below the foul line, usually in order to take advantage of a smaller defender. The offensive player usually faces away from the basket, so that his body can protect the ball from the defender. From this position, options such as spinning or backing down the defender to close in to the basket for better scoring opportunities become available. You're saying that this isn't Amare's job this year?? Melo is the #1 option??

melo , bargs and hardaway do
basically, if you can shoot, your perfect
bargs will be used in the high post where he actually is a beat at those 15 footers, only problem is he cant pass for shit,
if you watched Jeremy tyler in summer league, he played that role perfectly
passed to the cutting galloway numerous times, and hit the J when the others forced his man off him
