What teammates has he made better?
This myth has been going on forever, but the FACTS are that nobody he's played with (players of note) have had their best seasons playing alongside LeBron James.
Carlos Boozer? Best seasons were with Deron Williams
Zydrunas Ilgauskas? Best season was in 2003.....before LeBron
Ricky Davis? Best season was in 2003...before LeBron
Larry Hughes? Best seasons were with Gilbert Arenas
Ben Wallace? Best seasons were with Chauncey Billups
Delonte West? Best seasons were with Paul Pierce (and with Gloria)
Mo Williams? Best seasons were with Michael Redd in 07 and 08
Antawn Jamison? Best seasons were with Gilbert Arenas
Shaq? Best seasons were with Kobe
Hell, Anderson Varejao? Best seasons were after LeBron left
Dwyane Wade? Aint been the same since LeBron came to South Beach
Chris Bosh? Aint been the same since he left Toronto. Went from putting up 24 and 10 to putting up 16 and 6

If anything makes it easier to lose a player of his caliber it's that I held my breath whenever he had the ball in crunchtime. I still haven't forgotten that stretch were he was force fed the ball in the clutch and failed again and again. I believe he was more effective when he was forced to post-up more and you could see it translate into wins.
I hope he doesn't regress in that department in Cleveland for his sake because at the end of the day, the playoff's are about matchups and the Spurs seem to have him figured out. Do I think he makes his teammates better? Yes but only when he is shooting well from the perimeter because when he isn't other teams just dare him to shoot and clog the lane. When he isn't driving the lane he isn't creating easy shots for others.

Yeah playing with one of the top 5 scorers will decrease your ppg. Ppg isn't the be all end all measurement. What star player would have made bosh score MORE than he did in Toronto as a #1 option? Not even Cp3
A bunch of the dudes you listed were washed up by the time they got to bron. How does that make your point at all?

im a big lebron fan, but this is true
in reality, you need a TEAM to win championships
no one guy wins by himself / single-handedly makes his teams better
magic is probably the closest in doing so

Well if you think about it...
Shaq had his best years with Kobe
Pau Gasol's efficiency and productivity skyrocketed as soon as he got to LA
Lamar Odom won 6MOY with Kobe
Heck, even Smush Parker looked like an NBA caliber player with Kobe.
The only NBA-caliber players who legitimately improved their level of play after leaving Kobe were Dwight, Ariza and Jordan Farmar. And Dwight was injured in LA as well while Jordan and Trevor were just young and undeveloped. However John Wall seriously is a perfect fit for ariza.
This doesn't really make sense. A players stats will naturally decrease if you put them with someone as dominant as Lebron. Hell, if Lebron were playing with MJ, Lebron's stats would go down. It doesn't mean those players didn't get better. Logically they should have better stats when they are the #1 option, not when playing alongside a #1 option.

He gets spot up shooters more open looks. I don't think he makes individuals better individually but he makes the team better as a whole in most cases.

lebron is, but that's because his defense is worlds better and his ISO scoring is a notch above.
better passer/facilitator and conductor of an offense? not a chance.
magic is the GOAT teammate

magic stayed on one team, never had chemistry issues, and is the most unselfish superstar in history.

good thing they let go of enough "productions" per game so Kyrie won't be fighting shots with Deng/Hawes/Bynum/Jack

dude, he didn't have kareem the last 3 years of his career- 4 if you include 1996.
hell he won a mvp/took his team to the finals without kareem
lebron is a better player, no doubt. a better teammate? absolutely not.

Because it's nonsense. You list off mostly people who were washed up or never that good to begin with. You also list people that obviously had lower stats, because they were the focal point of their prior team, so of course their stats went down. Bosh didn't win shit in Toronto, who cares what his stats were. Shaq was about to retire, etc.

I think its about fit.. Shaq and Kobe could both put up huge numbers together or alone.. pippen and MJ could too.. Shit even Gasol put up much better numbers next to Kobe(one of the biggest shotjackers ever) than he did by himself as a lone star.
Lebron just doesnt 'fit' well with other stars that arent shooters. Dirk, Love, Ray Allen.. perfect fits because they can work off the ball and space the floor for his drives. Instead they tried to make Chris Bosh a Dirk type player after year 1 in 2011 when he operated a lot more from the midrange.. and that destroyed bosh's numbers because hes not a long range shooter. He was forced into that fit like the wrong piece to a puzzle. And Wade obviously cant put up numbers when bron has the ball in his hands all the time.

This is a good post......I agree......
he made mo williams an all star
CASE CLOSED
Ofcourse those players PPG will drop or not drop/stay the same playing with Lebron or any other superstar in NBA history... making your teammate/teammates better is not literal, it doesnt mean they start averaging 5-10 more PPG, 5-10 more RPG, 5-10 more APG or something....... what it generally means is that the players game translates better/easier looks & jobs for his teammates by way of elite decision making, making the right plays & playmaking with the ball in his hands and elevating their games by way of leadership/training (its visible in the game, not necessarily on the PPG) and hence they impact the game better, more efficiently, especially together as they all become complementary & have chemistry, hence they as a whole team are now much better.... That is what Lebron does and no its not a MYTH, thats why Lebron has one of the best team impacts in NBA history...
Hey Yo
07-17-2014, 05:17 PM
So in other words, players who get less FGA per game means there's a pretty good chance their PPG will drop???????
Who would have thunk?
A player who "makes his teammates better" is simply one very unselfish superstar who knows/studies the tendencies of his teammates, their strengths, their weaknesses (to the point where he even knows what you want to do before you do it) and then he learns how to abuse it and trust everybody during any situation..... his teammates jobs become much easier.... for example especially if you are a scrub but a great shooter, you wouldnt be able to create the shots you would get playing with Lebron, he will lazerbeam you the ball in your shooting pocket soon as you get open each and every time (even if its a Game 7, game tied, 2 seconds left) and voila you are shooting wideopen shots, best job in the world, plays you would never be able to get yourself at that magnitude.... of the game he will be also pushing/motivating you leading by example & by way of training with the best.... so did that player become better? Yes & No.... he is the same player, but he is able to give much more of himself, his job became much easier hence he impacts the game more prominently than he did before, statistically in that players case, his FG% - 3PT% will be more than likely be going up and that player will get lots of chances to prove himself in key plays/clutch aswell.... for some roleplayers that all is just enough to even make you look like an all-star (see Mo Williams).....
