Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has reiterated his desire to retain Kevin Love, saying in a recent interview that he doesn't want to trade the All-Star forward.

Love, who can become a free agent after the 2014-15 season, has been pursued by the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers in trade talks this offseason, sources have told ESPN.

Kevin Love has been the subject of numerous trade rumors, but Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has insisted that he would prefer to keep the All-Star.

Kevin Love has been the subject of numerous trade rumors, but Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has insisted that he would prefer to keep the All-Star.
But despite the widespread trade speculation, Taylor maintained his stance on Love's future with the Timberwolves in an interview Wednesday with NBA TV.

"My preference is that Kevin will come to [training] camp -- and I'm sure he will -- and play with the team," Taylor said.

Taylor also said that the Timberwolves would not trade Love unless they received what they perceived as "equal or more value" in the deal.

Golden State has been unwilling to include Klay Thompson in the framework of a deal, while Cleveland currently does not intend to part with No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins, sources have told ESPN.

"We are going to look at everything that makes sense that would make our team better," Taylor told NBA TV. "But we are not going to move a superb player like [Love] without getting equal or more value back."

Love has said he wants a change of scenery so he can win. He has not made the playoffs in each of six seasons with the Timberwolves.

"I say back to Kevin, 'Well, that's all I want, too,' " Taylor said.
ESPN.com's Marc Stein and ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard contributed to this report.

The problem with this is that...even if they were to win 55 games and made the 2nd round.

I think Love would still leave.

This whole notion that they are going to be the Blazers of last year and that will be enough to keep Love...just don't see it happening. I think he'd leave even if that were to happen. Lamarcus likes Portland...he just wanted a team. I don't think Love likes Minny...

He's gone. Just move him now and don't drag this on all year. These teams never learn...they'll drag it out. Waste part of the year or perhaps the whole year...get less and less for him as time dwindles.

Just move him and start the new era of Wolves basketball.

Yea...and I don't even think that would be enough to keep him though. That is the problem.

Wanting to keep a career loser that is the epitome of empty stats, that has nagged to the media for a while, and wants out.

Why?

Just give up this failed experiment and aim to gain someone that can do more than earn your franchise ping pong balls.

If that were truly the case, then the Minnesota owner and front office should've had the foresight to offer Kevin Love a five-year contract back a couple of years ago and made it clear that he was their franchise cornerstone going forward.

It was a stupid decision at the time and it is stupid now. The owner and front office caused this mess.

why do you think he is still a timberwolf? he signed his 4 year extension thinking the team can contend and turn it around 2 years ago

Not quite. Love asked for the 5 year max deal, Kahn said no, so Love instead asked for a 4 year deal with a player option after the third year. That way Love could be an unrestricted free agent as soon as possible. Love has been planning on leaving ever since Kahn refused to offer him a max contract

I hope they keep him till the end of the season, because then it'll remind everyone how dumb the Cavs were for not trading for him, after getting destroyed by the Spurs:lol

Exactly!

Minnesota valued Ricky Rubio over Kevin Love which was a stupid decision on their part.

Love wanted to sign a five year contract at the time.

Trade to OKC:
Love, Rubio, Barea
$24 Million

Rubio wants a MAX extension. He doesn't deserve it and hasn't done ish in MINNESOTA. Love wants out.... Having Rubio distributing the ball and running OKC's offense would be awesome.

Pekovic
Ibaka
Brewer
Martin
Westbrook

OKC sends MINN: Westbrook & Ibaka
$28 Million

Russell can have his OWN TEAM and average 35 a game shooting %28 fg. Surge will average 28 pts and 25 boards

Perkins
Love
Durant
Lamb:biggums:
Rubio

Works in TRADE MACHINE.

It's a long season. He doesn't have to be traded immediately.

The twolves are better off playing the waiting game and seeing how these other teams perform.

Who knows? If the cavs begin losing because of too many perimeter players of similar playing styles, maybe they do end up offering wiggins for Love if they realize their season is in jeopardy, relatively speaking.

If the Warriors realize they aren't getting enough out of their same core of players, maybe they eventually offer up Klay Thompson, who is reportedly off the market.

On the other hand, Superstars that are traded never generate equal value in return. Minnesota's owner needs to consider that. A package from Cleveland of Waiters, Bennett, and a couple of first rounders, or a package from the Warriors of David Lee, Harrison Barnes, and first rounders really are not bad options to consider.

The reason being is that when you trade a superstar, or high caliber all-star, it is usually because you are rebuilding, because you were unable to appease your star and are at risk of letting him walk for absolutely nothing. A move must be done. Either appease your star, Kevin love, or take what you can get while his value is high, and while the other prospects being considered still have a high morale.

Take a lesson from the Pau Gasol signing with the Bulls. Damn, the lakers could have had Love. but they chose to keep Pau, now Pau is gone and we have nothing to show for that.

Unless he goes to Cleveland, Minny is the best spot for him. Pekovic complements him well offensively and adding Dieng to the mix helps protect the rim a bit more next to those 2. Rubio is becoming one of the better PGs in the league(4th in WAR among PGs, 28th in RPM) and they have some good shooters and role players. They really need Lavine to work out. Shabazz was such a bad pick though, ugh. Budinger needs to stay healthy.

This makes some sense. Durant and Love would make it rain. Adams can protect the middle, with help from Perkins and Collison. Everyone always says to give Durant a pass first PG after all.

He is like that guy in HS whose average girlfriend turns into a bombshell over summer. Older guys want her, she wants them, yet she's still with poor little Glen Taylor.

Just a matter of time till it happens. Awkward in the meantime.
