I don't know what people are talking about. He has great control over the ball. The style is just different. He dribbles fast and doesn't look at the ground. It's only less 'carrying' and no 'fancy handles'.
Anyway, Red Auerbach has said that he's 2nd best fast break PG after Magic. (He's also said once that Cousy was better than Magic-- but he wasn't a fond of Magic at that time).
Auerbach: There was only guy running a fast break who could do it better than Bob Cousy and that was Magic Johnson. You think that Cousy couldn't play today? As good as [John] Stockton was, I'd rather have Cousy.

I stumbled on some clips recently that illustrate exactly what Aurbach is talking about, thus I wanted the source of the gif to get it and possibly more footage of him. Cousy's fluidity, awareness and control while running the break looks so effortless and natural, the first player that came to my mind was also Magic Johnson
