View Full Version : Hero-ball is dead.

The Heat must now forge ahead with a return to a complete team identity. The Spurs are the example. Miami's cap-space situation ruined any chance to rebuild a solid team around LeBron but now it can happen (but sans-lebron). Similar to what the Heat were in the 90s when they had Zo and Timmay the Heat must overachieve by playing fundamental team ball.

We can do this. No more hero ball.

Hero ball is dead.

The Heat havent played hero ball since 2011....
2012 is your being stingy.

Look at the amount of shot attempts everyone took last year.

They were built to LeBrons strengths. Too much drive and kick.

That isnt hero ball. Even then Wade and Lebron posted more alot more then previous as they cut back on the high pick and roll. Or what you refer to as hero ball.

In any case, Heat shot 50% as a team last year. Need to check the rankings later but top 5 in the modern era.

Stats aside, The Heat were stripped bare last year. Veterans aged and the Heat could not win without LeBron having a good game. The Spurs, meanwhile can beat you with different looks and had much more balance. True, it wasnt as bad as what OKC pulled at the end of their series against the Spurs but the onus was way too much on LeBron this last year and it created an imbalance.

Meh, the Heat werent that bad last year offensively. I mean outside of Wade straight up playing like garbage in the last two games they actually had great offense for the first half of the series, playoffs and regular season. :confusedshrug:

The problem the HEat have is that the only people on the team that can create for each other in the face of real defense are Wade and Lebron. Wade tanks and then Lebron is by himself.

That said, the only way the Heat will get to the Spurs passing level is if they actually start signing good passers. They got McRoberts and that's about it.

I think Spo keeps the same offense as last year as long as Wade is playing.

You are right but what Im talking about is the philosophy of having LeBron be the "man" in everything they do. Im talking about a return to traditional bball where you have the balance to attack a team from every position and yes you are right that means having good passers and excellent off-ball movement and a commitment to that. But if less-talented guys in euro leagues can do it, these guys can too.

It's not going to be pretty to see a diminished Wade try to iso against the whole league. It just won't.

Riley is right. Spo needs to reinvent himself.

Cant have a balanced attack because we dont have a balanced cast.

Napier is too raw. Chalmers is better than him and we still have Cole.

Oden is a wildcard.

Napier is a wildcard, too. Ive seen some sweet passing from him this summer and he might have a clutch gene.

okok. Hes only had 3 good summer games. Even though summer league can be irrelevant.

Oden
Bosh
Deng
Wade
Chalmers

Look for a trade for a PG by mid-season if they start slowly.

Spurs are a different breed. It took years to build their formula, etc. Not to mention, they have an all time great Tim Duncan. They have all-stars like Manu and Tony Parker. Great depth on the bench and good shooters. They have great passing bigs, etc. Also, they have an all-time great coach in Pop.

It's not as simple as, "let's pass the ball more." As I stated, Spurs are a different beast. Miami doesn't have the staff, players, etc to build what the Spurs have right now.

Miami best chances to win were with the big 3 formula. The best player in the league, Lebron James paired with Bosh and Wade. Now that Bron is gone, so are Miami's chances of winning a championship for a loonnng time.

It took 5 years for Miami to win its second championship. I'm not saying they'll win it again soon but you're basing your "Loonnng time" argument on nothing. Everything is possible with the right people at the helm.
