My point is, if you drink coke often it doesn't have that same refreshing effect as it does when you drink it for the first time after a while.

I would agree with this... but I will say that with certain meals it has refreshing taste every time. Burger and Fries, Pizza, anything greasy really... or maybe that's just me. I find an Arizona Lemon Iced Tea to be best with spaghetti... water with salad... wine with fish... I just have different drinks that go with different things. But yea if I go burger and fries one meal and pizza the next... coke is just as refreshing as if it's the first time I drank it.
