Lakers waiving guard Kendall Marshall, but have interest in bringing him back on a new deal if he clears waivers, league sources tell Yahoo.

---------------

i know the pacers desperately need a PG. would he be a decent fit off the bench?

and quite honeslty, im glad the lakers got rid of him (though it says they may try to pick him up again). everything about his production last year was inflated. and his game really isnt conducive to winning basketball

Warriors will take him

Curry - Livingston - Marshall - Nedavic
Klay - Rush
Iggy - Barnes

Bogut - Ezeli - Kuzmic

One more big man is all we need...

duhon was dropping dimes in d'antoni's system. thats just how his offense works.

however, i dont want to take away from the fact that marshall is a good passer. but beyond that, hes not much else.

Wow all this hate. I enjoyed watching him in the few Lakers games I watched this season, with all the injuries, he was the most fun to watch on the Lakers last year besides maybe Swaggy P.

But fun doesn't necessarily mean good basketball, he's a tremendous passer, great vision, looked like he has a decent but streaky shot, but is his defense really awful? I kind of attributed it to D'Antoni not giving a f*ck about defense, but I will admit Marshall doesn't look like the most athletic out there. I think someone will take a chance on him, a team with a plethora of scorers on the wing who needs someone to get them the ball while their main point guard is sitting or hurt.

Spurs get on that, then when Mills comes back waive him or put him as a reserve.

How does he suck? His D was bad but he was a great 3 point shooter despite his weird form and gets assists like crazy, does anyone watch the games?

he was not a great 3 pt shooter. teams played off him for a long time, so he got away with his flat footed 3 pt heave, but you CAN NOT shoot like that in the nba and expect teams to not catch on. and guess what, teams caught on and he had trouble getting his shot off. watching summer league, he still has the same issue, and this is against non NBA quality players.

he barely can get by his defender off the dribble, and is heavily reliant on screens. dantoni's offense was picture perfect for him, but its also perfect for ALL PG's. because if you have an offense where the ball is in your pg's hands 80% of the time, of course theyll put up numbers. Marshall got lucky that meeks was hitting his shots at a consistent rate last year and also that meeks was constantly cutting in and out of the lane.

can marshall play off the bench for a team constructed to suit his needs? sure. are the lakers that team, no.

get out of here with the "does anyone watch games" nonsense

what makes you say that? does he hog the ball to get his assists?

Id take him on Indiana...We need a pass-first PG who can at least run an offense......He can do that can't he? I know he can't shoot very well.....

in my opinion, yes. hes like a less offensively skilled vasquez. the numbers will be on the box score, but watching the games you just want to see the ball be swung and for him to screen away in order to get the offense moving, instead, he just holds it at the top and plays a 2-man screen game with whatever big is on the floor

however, he is a good passer in the open court, granted you surround him with shooters or athletic players who can finish.

i think he has a fit in indiana. only because vogel has all his players playing D. that can hide marshalls lackluster effort on that end. i dont think you want him starting. but its a possibility.

youd probaly have to start cj miles at the 2 though. because marshall needs shooters around him

Hope Mavs would sign him over Mo Williams and start him over Raymond Felton. Devin Harris is best as a backup.

he also has a quick, high-arced, release. marshall shoots outward from his chest.... slowly

but curry's release isnt always flatfooted. he actually jumps on his shots. where as marshall plays 2 feet back form a defender on his shots
