Lakers waiving guard Kendall Marshall, but have interest in bringing him back on a new deal if he clears waivers, league sources tell Yahoo.

8/3/9 last season sucks? albeit on shitty percentages. But still, he could be a good backup. I would have even kept him around for 3rd string, if Clarkson is THAT impressive.

he played "decent" in an offense that catered to players like him. way tooooo damn ball dominant, with no desire to try to play on defense, at all. a flat footed shot will only last you soo long in the NBA. the guy is a bench player, at best.
clarkson has more potential as a 1 than a 2, so give him minutes there

Clarkson outplayed him every game in the summer league and looks to have a tremendous upside. Lin / Nash / Clarkson is more than enough in the PG slot. His money is better used for a SF.

They had to cut either Marshall or R.Kelly to make room for Boozer.

Hope the knicks pick him up. They need pg's badly.
:biggums:
Why?
no big deal.. just clearing 1 million off the books to create some flexibility...

Yup, his play in the summer league prob influenced this decision. Like stated earlier, they need to fill the SF slot.

cmon now, LOF's have no idea who marshall is.
if and when they read this new, theyll probably think the lakers ended their deal with "marshalls" the department store

This. He's playmaking ability just does not compensate for his defensive liability and offensive shortcomings. I rather see what Clarkson can do on his minutes .

Would be a good fit for Indiana. There offense is going to be absolutely brutal to watch if they don't find some kind of playmaker.

I wasn't a fan of his game. He played well in stretches.
Hope he catches onto a fast paced team, he is a pure pg for sure. Although his teammates better not get into a skirmish while he's in the game, he walking the other way

lin only fan
Pretty disgusted with the human race right now if that is a thing. But thanks.
The label LOF exists but I haven't heard of LAOF (Lance Armstrong only fans) or BOOF (Barack Obama only fans) or SBOF (Sim Bhullar only fans) yet.
Those fans do exist but are not called out on it.
no pun intended

Anyone who has watched Marshall played knows that he is a one trick pony. His jumpshot is still broken as hell. On top of that, he can only drive on the left side and plays below average defense.

Was soo disrespectful when D'Antoni compared him to Lin.

Nice of them to give him a chance to catch on elsewhere. Clarkson looks way too good and will even push Lin for the starting job

As soin as Lin was traded to the lakers, I would think they would've taken the time to scan the Lakers roster for point guards who may be a threat to their hero's interest, playing time, glory, shot attempts etc...
Asiantastic

I really hope they don't re-sign him... He benefited from D'Antoni's system and shot the ball pretty inefficiently. I'd rather have Lin handle the ball for most of the game, while letting Clarkson develop a little.

Kobe gonna try to average his career high in assists this season... Marshal was in the way.
