View Full Version : LeBron is an AWFUL GM

LeBron has shown his cards. He signed a 1 yr deal to leverage Cle into transforming itself from a team built for the future into a team built to win today. Everyone knows it. Its an AWFUL way to play poker.

Most of you consider me a LeBron stan and its probably a reasonable assessment. But the way he has utilized his power has done his career a great disservice. In Cle he pressed the FO to get Larry Hughes, and a string of equally awful trades/signings.

Then Miami happened. Everyone thinks Bosh, LeBron, and Wade signed in Miami together. And there was plenty of cap space to do just that. But in the end Miami ended up doing SnTs with the Raps and Cle so they could get the guys the 5th year (the one all of them opted out of). The price was REALLY high. The Toronto picks ended up being Valanciunus and Bogdanovic. The Cle picks were almost as painful. There was a pick that bounced around a bunch before bouncing back to Miami when they took Norris Cole. Norris Cole isn't all that important, but when Chicago traded it back it was able to get the rights to Mirotic. The 2nd ended up being Crowder and he was picked one spot before Draymond Green. Cle ALSO has the Miami #1 this year and has a euro player stashed from one of the other picks.

So Miami traded away Valanciunus, Bagdonovic, Norris Cole (or Mirotic), and Crowder (or possibly D Green), plus a #1 for the ability to give LeBron Wade and Bosh a 5th year which no one even took. This was not Miami's idea.

If they don't make those deals Miami has massive reinforcements. Maybe last year plays out differently. Or they can at least use those assets to bring in other vets. Maybe that team is even still together.

LeBron appears to be doing the same thing here. Scorching the future when its completely unnecessary.

People care too much about LeBron James, more than me and I'm from Ohio.

A guy who could maybe one day be great and plays the same position as LBJ, or a stretch 4 with elite rebounding that produces NOW in an era devoid of big men? hmmmm

I'm fine with Wiggins for Love. But now it sounds like Minny is also demanding Bennett. And everyone knows this is LeBron pulling the strings. If he was willing to put Wiggins in it HAS to be done in a fashion where the counterparty cannot continue to press for MORE.

LBJ is pulling the strings? Lol. You are ridiculous. Just like every other all time great, they have massive input on who they want to play with. its up to the org to get it done without losing too many assets.

If Lebron says get me Raymond Felton as PG, Cleveland gets Raymond Felton as PG. No questions asked.

He got Mike Miller on a discount...and they badly need shooting. That was great.

Sounds like they are getting Ray Allen...again, that will be exactly what they need.

And James Jones at the minimum on a team with Lebron is just fine...especially for certain situations and the regular season.

All 3 of those guys would never have come to the Cavs without Lebron...and all 3 will make them better....way better in the case of Miller and Allen.

And if Lebron is telling them to go get Love. Good...that is exactly what they should be doing.

True. He's the reason the Heat drafted Napier.

True. He's the reason the Heat drafted Napier.

Who cares? I think Napier will end up being a decent player. Just because he has struggled greatly in summer league doesn't mean shit. Look at Trey Burke for example. The kid is only a rookie and obviously can play ball, give him some time. For all we know, Miami wanted Napier anyways even before Lebron said that he wanted him on the Heat.

Actually, LeBron essentially won 2 titles and went to 4 Finals as a GM, which is more than Morey, Presti, Hinkie and other front office superstars combined...

That Miami team with Wade, Bosh, Ray Allen and/or Mike Miller had LeBron's fingerprints all over it.

His priorities clearly tilt teams towards "win now" mode (which is only logical, since the teams he'll be on will have prime LeBron, so why would you want to waste that...), but at this point in his career he knows exactly how to get it done. And he's completely right to want Love, as a Kyrie/Love/LeBron Big 3 is indeed what it will take for him to win another championship.
