ESPN:

The 2014-15 NBA season could be another one without Andrew Bynum.

The oft-injured No. 10 pick in the 2005 draft is considering sitting out next season in order to undergo the Regenokine knee therapy procedure, his agent, David Lee, told the New York Post.

The non-surgical procedure uses injections to help grow new cartilage, and requires an extra-long rehab.

Lee said Bynum is considering doing the program with German doctor Peter Wehling, who has worked with Kobe Bryant and Alex Rodriguez in the past.

The procedure is not approved in the United States.

If Bynum successfully completes the program, he could return in 2015-16, according to Lee, who said the Knicks potentially would be interested in the 7-footer.

"If he's healthy, Phil (Jackson) will be interested," Lee told the Post, referring to the Knicks team president who coached Bynum while with the Lakers. "Phil knew how to tap into Andrew. They got along famously."

Bynum, a former All-Star, didn't play in 2012-13 because of bad knees. Last season, he played in 24 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who then traded him to the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls eventually waived the one-time All-Star, and he signed with the Indiana Pacers, playing just two games for them.

In 2011-12, Bynum's last full season, he made the All-Star team, averaging 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.

He seriously needs to retire. At least Oden can kinda still play, Bynum is legit done.

If he wasn't let go, he would be the piece to build around in LA. Not that its necessarily the best thing. He was putting up though.

This is hardly news, he's done.

This news is surprising. Thought this jerk was gonna steal money from one of these teams banking on his potential.

I mean he can still play but I am afraid of his future, maybe he will have a hard time walking when he gets older.

This guy hasn't played seriously since he clotheslined Barea in the playoffs a couple years back.

He actually had his best season that following year.

When was his last "real" game (more than 15-20min on the floor)?

Even when he was healthy he seemed disinterested in playing basketball. Even if his body is right, it seems like his mind isn't.

Even if he wanted to play no team would sign him. After the mess that was last season I'd be surprised if any team had any interest in giving him any sort of chance.

Bynum has been trying to get his knees right for 5 years now. Give it up Drew, they're history...

I didn't know David Lee was an NBA agent and a basketball player. He must be the first player/agent in the history of the NBA

Why not, take the season off and see if he can get his knees right:cheers:
If healthy and wants to play guaranteed teams will be interested..

Hasn't he been doing that for the past two seasons?

I like that he's at least putting an effort into his recovery so that he can rob more people. lol

He wants that extra 4 or 6 years in his career. Bynum will likely keep on playing until he's in mid 30's.

The numbers for next week's lottery are: 32, 5, 6, 12, 43, 22, 5, 7, 24, 8, 21.

You're welcome.

He's ungrateful to be in the league and his knees are shot.

Retire and don't even attempt a come back, clown.

Hard to get excited for Bynum when you know he will never be as good as he used to be.

he had already got this procedure done when he was a sixer and he didn't have good results from it.

This procedure doesn't regrow the true cartilage you are born with, it kinda can create a different type that's not as good and the results are far from consistent.

i recently read somewhere that scientists have successfully regrown the good kind using stem cells but its nowhere near practical use stages yet.

Bynum is just like NBA live, it was great before, but is now ruined and nobody is going to buy before we see some solid gameplay. Here is the last NBA live screenshot I saw. Because of a bug, Bynum was standing in middle of the court doing nothing.

This is like when someone retires or steps down before they get fired.

Chances are that nobody will sign him regardless if he wants to play or not. At least this way he can make it seem like he has a choice in the matter.
