View Full Version : Is Drew Gooden the best low post teammate Lebron's played with?

Drew's 4th yr in the league and first with Cleveland in 2004-2005, he avg. 14pts and 9rpg. He was undersized and banged down low for points and boards.

Big Z was more of a mid-range shooter and wasn't known for banging down low for boards. Gooden was just the opposite when the 3 played together.

Shaq was over the hill. Varejao is known more for defense than offense down low.

Gooden > Birdman when comparing.

Is Drew the best low post presence season long teammate that James has played with in his career?

Technically Carlos is the answer by avg 15 and 11 LeBron's rookie year, but he bolted the year after.

in terms of low post offense it's clearly Boozer or possibly washed up shaq. people act like he's play with nobody but I forget that Ben Wallace (among otherz) was still pretty damn good on the cavs

Bird had Parish, McHale, LoHous

Earvin had Kareem, Thompson, A.C Green

MJ had Oakley, Pippen, Cartright, Longley

Kobe had Shaq, Odom, Gasol, Bynum

LBJ had Boozer for 1yr and Gooden.

Wallace was garbage with the Cavs.

LeBron's B2B titles featured 33-34yr old Birdman as the teams best low post presence. 5PPG and 5RPG.

Could you imagine if James had Rodman or even a young Horace Grant? A prime Shaq, McHale, Parrish or Kareem playing down low for him?

Instead, he had 1yr of Boozer and Drew Gooden.

this is complete bullshit. Was he prime pistons wallace? Of course not. Did he have the second highest +/- in the league that year. Yes, yes he did. He was a pretty solid compliment to lebron and was a major factor in their success. Again, not really low post (since that only addresses one side of the ball), but he was a much better player than the hindsight fanbois remember.

Leron cant play with low post guys. All they do is clog his driving lanes.. heres a reason bosh moved more and more towards the 3 pt line as he kept playing with him.. the reason he wants kevin love so bad him being more of a long range shooter and rebounder than a post player.. the reason miller and ray allen are following him and have been crucial to the his teams winning.

but you would be surprised how efficient those players can post up on few and selective possessions.
