It looks easy just hitting a birdie, but it is actually one of the most physically demanding sport out there. You need quick hand eye coordination, foot work, agility, stamina, strength (for the smashes), and smartness.

Not a lot of love for the sport. I love it and was fairly accomplished. Being good at badminton helped my basketball game as well. I still play and currently training my son. Kid is a prodigy and is already better than I was at his age.

Badminton would be great for eye hand coordination, agilitiy, and footwork in basketball. All of those are much more intense in badminton. People assume just because it is a birdie the sports is for girls, but what they don't realize is the amount of effort and energy it takes to maintain that birdie in the air and beat the other side. We're talking about tennis size courts and someone can drop the birdie right next to the net and hit it all the way to the end of the court, and drop it again .. that requires a lot of footwork to keep up with the birdie.
