Ray's done it all in career! He's a first ballot HOFer and a top 10 GOAT SG. What else does he have to play for other than rings? They came to a crossroads in Boston where they wanted to rebuild. And some in the organization I think began to take Ray for granted. I feel Ray sacrificed more than any of the Big Three in Boston to make it work. For all intensive purposes, he became a specialist kind of marksman for Boston mainly. But he was the best three point specialist of all time in that role. He was used to having the ball in his hands and scoring his awesome array of talent. So what do u want a legend to do in his last days! It's all about the rings and he EARNED the right to become a gun for hire!

Reggie himself said Ray was better if I'm not mistaken

Reggie was great and it's close, but prime Ray was just as good of a shooter, yet was much more athletic, and a better 2-way player overall. He also had the ability to go ISO and take over games when he had to. Reggie, great as he was, was never at that level.

He's too old to be the man and much of his prime was spent playing for sub par teams. I don't blame him for wanting to get as many rings as possible. He's spent most of his life dedicated to this game and now he's in his twilight years. Might as well try to end on a high note.

He's just being humble, what do you want him to say, he's better than him? no. In history, players always give credit to others, positively say things like "he's better than me", it's not new.

Realistically, Reggie > Ray

Reggie's clutch shots are legendary. Both are amazing shooters, although I lose respect for Ray in the past years due to him ring chasing and riding Lebron's nuts.

Ray Allen is a beast, and I believe a hall of famer. He's stayed healthy and kept his nose clean for years, not to mention having a hell of an all-round game.
He can do whatever he wants IMO. I do see a lot of parallels to Ray and Reggie, but different cats for certain. I can't knock him for paring up with LeBron.

You probably are mistaken because the only player he said that was better than him as a shooter/player was Drazen Petrovic.

I doubt that he would ever consider a player that he constantly beat/outperformed in the regular season and playoffs better than him.

Rays a b.tch but he's making a smart decision.

Lebron can get him open looks all day and compete for titles...

WTF is he supposed to do at his age? It's either retire or chase titles.

Just makes me respect that 13th pick in the 1996 NBA Draft more and more every day. Ray Allen lucky that he is a fellow UConn alum. We stick together. So I am cutting him some slack. Play on, Ray. Play on.
