What's wrong with having two rings and multiple finals appearances?

By OP's standards, Doug Williams is the greatest QB ever...

yeah both get too many MVP's based off hype too. Manning statpadded a shitload last year. I think vs the Raiders he stayed in during a blowout just to get 7 TD's lol. Sounds like LeBron vs the Bobcats.

I feel like Mannings playoff issues are less mental though. He just doesn't put much zip on the ball and in the playoffs vs elite defenses they'll expose that shit.

LeBron in the playoffs just doesn't have the "win at all costs" mentality that many of the greats do. I don't believe it's something you can teach to a grown man though, so people will just have to accept that thats who he is.

If he doesn't have that mentality and he already has won 2 rings, then

Also because of Mannings lack of throwing velocity, it also doesn't bode well in the playoffs because around that time the weather is colder too, making it harder for guys who depend mostly on elite ball placement to complete most of their passes. He plays notoriously worse in cold weather games, which usually come at the end of the year and in the playoffs.

It's a combination of things but I think only a small part of it is mental compared to LeBron who appears to have a mental block holding him back. He wants to have fun and stockpile individual accolades but he doesn't appear to have the "win at all costs" mentality that is required to have something like a winning finals record.

He's more A-Rod than P Manning in my opinion. A-Rod is also obsessed with himself and he's a lightning bolt with the media.

You want real losers? And I mean this...

John Elway and Johnny Unitas. Two of the game's greatest "chokers" in NFL history. Look up their post-season QB ratings. And yet the two are generally regarded as the two most "clutch" QBs of all-time. Unitas won two titles very early in his career, and then not only couldn't win in the biggest games of the rest of his career, he was simply awful in all of them.

And Elway won two rings in the last two seasons of his career. He was a running joke on the Simpsons up until he finally won his first ring, and even in that, he had one of the worst QB ratings ever in the SB (and it was Terrell Davis, who is somehow not in the HOF that won the game for them.) He FINALLY played well in his LAST season.

Even Joe Montana, who was undefeated in his Super Bowls, had some horrific "choking" post-season games. He led teams down to defeat by margins of 17-3, and 49-3. He was also BENCHED early in the second half of the Viking game in '87.

And how many times does anyone mention Bart Starr in the conversations as GOAT QB? Went 9-1 in his post-seasons (his lone loss came early in his career, 17-13, and with his team down to the Eagle 8 yard line as time expired.) And he also has the highest post-season QB rating of all-time.

Just look at LeBrons actions and it's obvious.

He'll be dancing on the sidelines while the game is still going on and shit. He'll create 1 hour specials to announce a free agent decision and then go dance and celebrate the next day, he'll be dancing on the court while dribbling the ball out (surprised he didn't have someone tackle him for that lol)

The guy is like Dwight Howard was when he was in the East, except his team is more stacked.

So are you saying Manning isn't as talented as LeBron? I guess I can agree with that. LeBron doesn't have any glaring weakness like Manning does with his arm. The problem with Manning as you said is his arm strength. He threw so many ducks in the SuperBowl and when the Seahawks shutdown the middle of the field, Manning couldn't push the ball deep. LeBron's mentality could be be better, and I don't think he always leaves it "all in the floor", but he showed up in the finals. It's not like 2011 when he shrunk and cost his team.

How did LeBron do down 2-1 against the Pacers without Bosh?
Or down 3-2 vs. Boston?
Or games 6-7 vs the Spurs?

Im not sayin either of them cant win.. peyton has a superbowl win too. But more often than not they choke in the playoffs than win. Its a given that peyton will dominate regular season next year and put up monster stats.. but its so far from a given that he'll do the same in the playoffs.

Im so nba'd out

nah if he was frustrated he wouldnt have looked back for that long he would of looked str8 ahead no need to see who is checking in or he would of just looked back for a second to see what was going on.But he looked back for a good 2 second to see exactly who was checking in then said Fk!

They are exact opposites.. Peyton breaks TD records during the regular season and chokes in the super bowl, while eli breaks int records in the regular season but goes montana in the SB. like ying and yang:lol

they both have the same expression when they mess up tho

No I actually like Peyton and hate LeBron unfortunately LeBron has more rings.

Plus Manning actually won before he left for Denver. LeBron had to leave the Cavs to win(and then he came back once he was done with them)

That being said I also find it ridiculous that they're both expected to win every year. I don't care how good of a player you are nobody wins every year.

Kobe led the Lakers to the Finals 4 times as the man. Brady was carried by elite defenses in his earlier career like Kobe was "carried" (doesn't do justice to Kobe but he wasn't the clear cut #1 and only matched Shaq in 01) by Shaq during the 3-peat.

Brady had one of the most stacked teams ever and lost to Eli ****ing Manning. That helmet catch

Carried by elite defenses yet most of the playoffs games came down to a final drive driven by Brady? We had great defense but Brady and vinatieri always sealed out games

When has Brady layed an egg in the Super Bowl? His losses came from a fluke catch and dropped pass by mr freeze. Yet Kobe has chucked his way out of the finals multiple times and is lucky to have played with one of the most dominant forces in the NBA.

Lol at leading the lakers to the finals 4 times

Football is more reliant on the team than basketball is.

Obviously it takes a team to win in basketball, but you ultimately only need 8-9 players. Football requires A LOT more than that.

So no, that's a dumb comparison.

If he doesn't have that mentality and he already has won 2 rings, then

If he had that quality, he'd have 4 right now.

You don't necessarily need it to win, but it helps put you over the top in a lot of cases.

Shaq won 4 without a huge killer instinct, though I think his was still a bit stronger than LeBron's.

LeBron is probably one of the more mentally fragile players to have a won a couple.
