Pierce was the better overall basketball player..but Melo on his best day was more unstoppable.

Give me peak PP if I'm building a team from scratch, Melo if I already have an elite defensive system in place.

How good of a defender was Pierce back in his prime, pre Big three?

peak Pierce=better player

It's pretty close.

Melo is a better overall scorer, Pierce was better from range and a better passer. Both are great at getting to the free throw line. So offensively, it's a wash.

Pierce is the better overall defender. Melo is the better rebounder.

Only clutch when he had Ray Allen/Rondo/KG to help out. When did Melo have that kind of support? Thats alright take your time, I'll wait

I'm not really into excuses man lol

He decided to get traded to NY instead of waiting for free agency cause he wanted all his money. We coulda used those assets to trade for CP3.

And now he chose to take the max now. No way were gonna be able to build a team like the celtics has with a guy making 25 M's. That's why are team isn't as good, arnt you a knick fan? You should know this, get your head outta your ass

Are we going to act like Melo didn't have some good Nuggets teams?

08/09 Nuggets were crazy good. They would have won the title that year if they didn't run into the Lakers.

He carried the 2002 team with fat Antoine to the EC finals. Were you even watching back then?

From 2006 Melo had a front court rotation of Prime Camby, Prime Kenyon Martin and Nene. Then he had a Guard rotation of Prime Boykins, andre miller and JR smith all averaging double digita in points.

In 2008 he had his own big 3, Melo, Iverson and Billups while still having a front court of Nene and Kenyon Martin. Thats some pretty stacked teams.

Iverson and Billups were traded for each other. They never were on the same team in Denver.

Oops my mistake. But even then, he had 1 all star guard all the time and a good front court in those mid 2000s denver teams. He was surrounded with talent then and failed to make the WCF at least then jump ships to the hobbled east and has only won 1 play off series since the move. Pierce can at least make the ECF pre big 3

Peak Pierce: PO loser due to sh!t team (Pre-Big 3).
Peak Melo: PO loser due to facing Kobe.

Pierce>Melo

Look how dumb these arguments are.

Maybe two people so far have actually compared them by how they play basketball. The rest were just like "well, he made it this far in this year with these teammates, but the other guy only made it that far, and his teammates were so and so"

That shit has nothing to do with who is better at basketball. It's basically talking points for morons.

Comparable talent, both get too carried away with hero ball at times but Pierce does it less and is easily the smarter player and more consistent defender, he's my choice.

Spoken like a true kid. Pierce had a clutch reputation going back to the days when Antoine Walker was on the team.

I am taking Pierce. More efficient scorer, better passer and not as much of a ball stopper as Melo. Melo's career best TS of 56.8% is Pierce's career average. Rebounding is basically even. PP's rebounding has tapered off late in his career and he is till only .6 rpg behind Melo.
