View Full Version : Why won't the Cavs just wait on Love

I don't understand why the Cavs just don't wait until next year to sign Love long term if he wants to play with Lebron. It absolutely makes no sense to give up on Wiggins, and even with Love they are not winning the title next year anyway.

Cavs would be wise to keep their assets and wait for Love to come to them if he really wants to play with the King.

I have sources INSIDE the Timberwolves organisation. They are pretty clear in that they want Love gone by the start of the season. Don't read into what the media is saying about the organisation. It's a decoy.

He could leave after one year due to his opt-out clause.

I say we keep Wiggins.

If we HAVE to trade Wiggins for Love, I'd only do it if it was with Thompson (want to keep Bennett), and we would need Dieng back as part of the deal.

I really think we should sit pat at this point though, and see how our young guys mesh together. We should definitely not let Lebron come in here and start dictating, that much is for certain.

What if they wait and the clippers somehow trade for him while also keeping blake and cp3......Would he choose to play with lebron in cleveland or get a extra 50 million to stay in LA and play with cp3 and blake griffin

This is just a hypothetical situation but a scenario like this is why they will not wait

Minnesota knows Love wont resign. They will seek to trade him to get something for nothing. No way he walks after the season as a Wolve

This is it. If they want him they have to go get him or another team will. I'm sure Minnesota knows that once the season is going the amount of teams and what they'll offer will go down.

Important to start developing chemistry as soon as possible. All these so-called super teams take time to develop the right chemistry. Miami in their first year hadn't yet worked out all the kinks. Irving, James and Love will need time to work out the right balance. Even then they should make it to the Finals in their first year.

LeBron isn't leaving after one year, unless it's part of some crazy revenge scheme.

All Love has to say is that I will only play with Lebron and the CAVS can keep everybody or do a sign and trade that benefits them. Love and Cavs have all the leverage.

If I was Dan Gilbert, I wouldn't give up anything of value for Love. Cavs have all the leverage.

Scenario 1: I keep Wiggins, Thompson, Bennett, plus future draft pick(s). LeBron's not going anywhere, in fear of the backlash. He's already proven unable to handle the villain role. He would never be comfortable living in Ohio ever again, if he left.

Scenario 2: I get Love and give up Bennett or Thompson(not both) + picks.

Scenario 3: Love doesn't resign with Warriors, etc and I get him for nothing.

Either way, I win.

There's not a great chance that the Cavs will sign him if that's the case. I'm pretty sure he wants to go West if anything.

They'll lose leverage come the deadline when more teams are after Love. They'll have to act soon enough I'd think if they really want Love.

Love wants to play with LeBron. That gives Cleveland all the leverage. Not to mention, if they don't get Love, their still good. Only fear is LeBron leaving, which wouldn't happen either way, in fear of the backlash he would receive.

Maybe the Cavs are actually holding off a trade but ESPN and the sports media are just throwing up these rumors to sell a story.

This is after all these are dog days of professional sports. You got meaningless regular season baseball, the WNBA on a daily basis....a weekend of the British Open...nothing else going on.

They're killing time before NFL training camp starts.

You really think Love is set only on 1 team? Cabs won't even have capspace to sign him next offseason

But teams won't be offering much if they know he's just a rental with no chance of signing long term.

They should know that the Cavs will be able to offer the most cause KL will sign on with the Cavs.

I'm betting that more teams arise as we get closer to the deadline. There's no telling if he'll sign long term with other teams at this point. We have an idea he'll sign long term with the Cavs, but even that isn't for sure. I want the Wolves to wait it out. The deals aren't impressive quite yet. There's really no players that the Cavs would offer outside of Wiggins that the Wolves should be interested in. Wolves might as well take a risk that the offers will get better or let him go for a couple 1st rounders because the players outside of Wiggins don't look like they'd make an impact. At worst, we let Love become a free agent and have cap space to sign others. We're looking to rebuild the way it looks anyway.

We're talking about the Wolves. More than likely, they'll over-play their hand and end up letting Love go for nothing. In my opinion, he'll end up in Cleveland when it's all said and done either way.

Delusional. Wiggins and Thompson for Love and Dieng?

Hopefully Rubio learns how to shoot. We'd be top in the West if he suddenly found his shooting stroke this season.

edit: top 5 (gotta be specific or you'll murder me)

There will be less teams interested in huge changes to their team mid season. Some will not want to mess w chemistry, some will have lost the pieces they'd need to trade due to injury or bad seasons, and some teams will have less or more success with their current roster than they expected and that will drop them out.

Cavs cant wait and if they do they will lose this opportunity. As long as Minny has the power for a bid war they will always have leverage.

Personally I would take the GSW deal. Get rid of Martin and Love for Lee, Barnes, Thompson and a pick. Minny needs to get better sooner rather than later and neither Wiggins nor Bennett are going to get that done.

There's only 2 teams that are seriously talking to the Wolves right now. It can't get much less. I'd rather take the GS trade at this point if there's no Wiggins. At least then we'd be able to play one solid player. Bennett looks like a bust.

According to an article, Steve Kerr wants defense now. They're not as interested in the trade because Kevin Love is known for his lack of defense. It sounds like it'd take a lot for GS to consider bringing Thompson into the trade. I hope they do it though because I'd take that trade over whatever the Cavs have to offer. Proven talent is better to me, and young talent at that.

Good luck to the Warriors in paying Thompson 17 million per season to keep him.

Love is so much more valuable :facepalm
