I haven't played many video games in the last 4-5 years. I'm looking to get a 360 or PS3 to play some 2 player games with my girlfriend. We enjoy shooters and adventure type games. We may not always have internet access so I'd like some online and OFFLINE 2 player options.

What system and what games would you guys recommend?

(I posted this in the video game forum and got one response in 24 hours, please don't move it)

the "contra" series across NES, super-nintendo, etc. play it by emulator on your PC.

MAME also has tonnes of awesome 2-player games, including some that are more for women than men.

Me and my wife play games together, hard to find good couch co-op for ps3 or 360, but the obvious choice for those systems is borderlands. You can do a local campaign. Diablo III is alright. If you rather play more local multiplayer games you are better off getting a nintendo.
