Whoever said this guy is not athletic needs to put the crack pipe down.:pimp: To be 6'9" 250 pounds and to be able to move like this is flat out amazing.

Great dunk, but he is out of shape dude. The promising thing about the dunk is that if he can do that while being overweight and under conditioned, he's gonna be a monster when he drops 15-20 pounds and gets in shape.

He's obviously not an athlete like Wiggins nor will he ever be, but he's a crafty athlete in his own right with deceptive explosiveness. He's just gotta get into peak shape and show it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSDl9JF5hvU

He's around 250 right now, which is just unacceptable for a prospect of his caliber. Good news is he's about to put in serious work with professional physical trainers for the first time in his life. Couple that with all the burn he'll get during the season..he better be hovering around 235 by the end of the season.

RoundMoundOfReb

Melo could do that at 19 and he's not somebody described as "athletic"...there's a different standard for NBA players

Im gonna try to get NBALP to watch bucks games. It's going to be interesting to see how they build around Parker.

A lot of people don't care for the Kendall Marshall Pickup but the truth is bucks fans will take to him quickly. When the lakers were going through major problems last season with the offense having no direction in, K. Marshall got thrown in there and starting getting guys into the right spots.

He made others better and in doing so he made himself better. If Jabari Parker performs really well this year, it'll be for two reasons:
1) he's a superstar in the making
and
2) he's playing with a smart unselfish point guard that will make it a bit easier for him to get easier buckets.

Between having great guards like Ray Allen, Gary Payton, and then having underrated guys like Michael Redd, and Ramon Sessions, The bucks know a thing or two about good guards.

That is seriously a dunk most people try after they can throw down a regular one, or a two handed flush.

That was very meh.

Should be an exciting year, not the team itself but just watching Jabari and Giannis grow together as players. They both have pretty different skillsets...Jabari is a pure scorer through and through, Giannis is a natural playmaker and defender. Kidd has said one of his priorities is developing those two, it'll be great to see how their games mesh.

I like the Marshall pick up..it's not a game changer nor do I think he'll be a long-term Buck, but it was a good signing. Giannis is gonna play a lot of point-forward next year..good development, but he'll make his share of mistakes and it'll help to have a more polished playmaker there to lean on when he's having a bad night. My only concerns with Marshall were his defense and his shooting, although his shooting looked to be much improved with the Lakers. Having the length of Giannis/Henson/Sanders should help defensively though.

Pretty much this. Anyone who has ever dunked would know this is probably the 3rd or 4th dunk you try after discovering you can officially dunk. :oldlol:

It was a very nice dunk. Better than your two handed dunk, better than the average dunk that happens a few times per game. He slammed it down with authority for effect.

Yes they can. 6'8 you have to barely jump to dunk he is just doing a running reverse, whats so hard? I've seen 5'6 to 5'9 guys trying to dunk and they can flush it down (but the ball bounces out), these guys aren't even NBA or play any pro ball for that matter.

Was expecting a major poster or a great dunk. Not impressed. I mean, when he was doing that 360 pump in the workouts, I thought it was amazing but most people here said it's something all small forwards are capable of, but this isn't? Decent dunk, I guess.

BoutPractice

Jabari is never going to do dunks most NBA small forwards can't do.
But he's going to do other stuff most NBA small forwards can do, which is what truly matters.

Lol. C'mon man. Wasn't really impressive.

What's more intriguing to me is that the guy weighs 250. Wtf? Is that his playing weight or did he gain that over last couple months.

He needs to drop 15-20, easy.

This... and how many guys CAN MOVE LIKE THAT at 6'9" 255 pounds? The first step, the handle, the speed for a man his size, and coordination to finish and throw down with authority. There are some 6'9" 255 pounders that can do it like that but not many.

And the best part is he is just 19 years old and still getting into shape.

Its just setting people up for disappointment. That dunk is just nothing noteworthy so putting "MONSTER Dunk!!!... this guy is an Athlete!" before it raises expectation then lets you down.

I didnt come in here to downplay Parker. I like his game. Thought id see some amazing play from the kid.

Eh.

Just expected a lot more for what it was called. This is the second or third time ive seen this lately with him. Its just gonna make him a target of mocking when he doesnt deserve it.

Hes played well. He just isnt a special athlete. Its hardly a requirement. Plenty of people in the HOF were not exceptional athletes.

Not for plays nobody will ever care to see again. topics on monster dunks you expect to be....great plays. Something you might show a friend after you see it. something one might remember.

I dont care about a 6'8'' guy doing an uncontested reverse.

I might say its nice while im watching a game. Im not going to youtube to see it again. Its an unremarkable play from someone im getting used to seeing unremarkable plays from.

Doesnt mean he cant play ball. It means hes consistently disappointing me through no fault of his own because he has people making a big deal out of nothing.

dude reminds me of a young paul pierce more and more.

great skill set but a deceptive athlete.

looks slow as shit but can blow by u...looks like he cant jump over a graham cracker but will dunk on u if need be.

i think being deceptive like that will help him more than being an athletic freak will help wiggins.

people arent gonna expect parker to do certain things when he drives etc so u might defend him differently thinking he cant do something when he can.

whereas wiggins is gonna get every defenders best effort from day one because they know what he can do with just a little bit of space.

noob cake
07-21-2014, 12:35 PM
The thing is that when players are skilled, they rely less on pure athleticism plays. Because they don't need to dunk or jump as high to finish, they re thought of as less athletic.

wow the amount of basketball ignorance in this thread people claiming this dunk is a simple dunk. its not just a reverse dunk:facepalm.

he beat the defender to the rim, did a slight pump hesitation before lifting off that the defender bit on, reversed 180 dunked it with 1 arm, and going full speed at that. the fact that the defender thought he was going to finish on the front side shows how hard it was to finished on the other side.

id like to see you idiots do this on a 9ft so i can laugh at how close you not were to replicating it.

Before all the injuries destroyed his career Brandon Roy was a perfect example of this.
