The reigning champs (unless the team is blown up in the offseason): Spurs
The teams with the clear cut best player(s) in the NBA: OKC and Cleveland
Teams in year 2, 3, 4, etc with multiple top ten players: OKC, Clippers

That would be my list: Spurs, OKC, Cavs, and Clippers.

how can the cavs be considered championship or bust when the only player who isn't d league caliber is lebron?

:facepalm the agenda is strong in this one.

What is the problem? They were the most stacked team of all-time just a month ago. They lost LeBron but replaced him with a two-time all-star, improved at PG, and shored up their bench with Roberts and Granger. Their roster outside their best player is better now than last year. Bosh is 30, Deng 29, and Wade just came off a 19/5/5 on 55% year and will be 33 (so Bosh and Deng are in the peak years for a basketball player, which usually are 27-30). They are the only team in the East with two superstars. If the claims made about how stacked the Heat were with LeBron were accurate there is no reason for them not to be contenders next year. #noexcuses

Thunder and Clippers.

No pressure on Spurs or Cavs to be honest...

Add Cavs to the list of they get Love.

OKC. That's it. Spurs are the best team, but they just won it all for the 5th time, so it wouldn't be THAT disappointing if they lost this year. OKC was expected to be dynasty though. Anything less than a title should be considered a failure at this point.

Clippers have reached this point as well.

Time for Paul and Griffin...with Doc coaching to get shit done.

This same thread gets made every year about the same teams and nothing changes. Only one team can win.

If OKC loses then... what? Make the same thread next year?

Cavs.

Best player in the league, All star game MVP, potential superstar and hyped future GOAT in Wiggins, etc.

What more do they need? Massive choke job if they don't win.

I don't think the Spurs belong on this list at all. Even though their regular season performances continue to suggest they're an elite team, popular opinion won't stop from discounting them or suggesting their window is closed. They've collectively won so much, and their stars have had such illustrious careers, that any more championships are simply icing on the cake. If they were to get knocked out in the second round by a bad matchup, it would be disappointing but not heartbreaking.

With that being said... there really is only one championship-or-bust team in the league this year.

OKC Thunder

u fail

Cavs have LeBron, a quality NBA level Pg in Irving, and a 19 year old defender in Wiggins kinda like a Tony Allen

the rest are scrubs like 32 year old Varejao and Anthony Bennet who might be the worst player in the league

So a good Pg, tony allen, and LeBron should win?

I think the Clippers are championship or bust as well. CP3 isn't getting any younger, they have a stacked team. Anything less than a ship is a disappointment from here until CP3 is gone.

While you aren't wrong, casual fans keep telling me we're going to suck. Nobody is expecting us to win a title. Many people don't even think we're going to win the division. Miami is not a championship or bust team. I would say the Cavs, Clippers, and Thunder are. Especially the Thunder.

Nah.

Cavs have the all star MVP. That's like the best player in a game with the best players. Crazy, that is the second best player on the team.
Wiggins, the number 1 pick? Hardly a Tony Allen. Kid was being called the next Michael Jordan and Lebron at 13 years old.
Varejao and Thompson? Two double-double big men right there.

Then you're going to have Waiters, a 15ppg scorer coming off the bench? As well as Mike Miller?

Damn, stacked.

lol @ people listing 5-6 teams under championship or bust, logic dictates no more than two should be branded. I'd say OKC/CLE, carry that brand right now and would be a disappointing season for either not to win it all.

OKC and Clippers is pretty accurate.

Bulls don't really count, we have our number 1 guy coming back from basically 2 years off.

However, we will need to win in the next 2 or 3 years for this current core.

People say championship or bust for OKC, meanwhile Scott Brooks says this year was a success. :oldlol:

We still got Perkins on the roster, I am keeping my hopes low until I actually see some real team play and an offensive system in place.

You can't just look at names and label teams champions or potential champions. A good coach is far more important, no one would think Spurs were contenders in 2013/14 if they just looked at the roster and their age, but Pop makes shit happen by himself.

how the hell is a 33 win team and only adding Lebron, Miller, and James Jones in a bust category if they don't win? The team is young as hell still.
