View Full Version : Why is Cleveland trusting Lebron as GM when he only committed for 1 year?

Cleveland should demand Lebron sign full max with NO OPT OUTs before they start letting him make trades and shipping people out..

I would not trust trading away the best #1 pick in over a decade (ironically, since Lebron) for a dude whos only committed for 1 year.

What choice do you honestly have? No team in the NBA would say no to LeBron James wanting to sign there. And faced with the possibility of him leaving again in 2 years ... you do whatever you can to keep in his good graces.

If he wants Kevin Love you do it.

If he wants you to paint the floor purple, you do it.

People don't want to hear it, but that's just the truth.

They have no choice.
Plus he has two rings.

They are idiots. If he leaves, he only makes an idiot out of himself. Yeah, they will lose him, but they will be able to go on without him if they keep him out of FO.

Because their real GM drafted Anthony Bennett.

No, their GM has only drafted Wiggins

It puts leverage on the team to make deals that might include some risk for winning. I guess people want the Cavs to run the front office like they did pre-2010 and get bullshit contracts like Larry Hughes or some shit like that?

Because the Cavs will be his last team.. simple as that.

So those are their only two options?

Let LeBron GM or go back to how they ran the team in the past?

:biggums: He hasn't even played a single NBA game yet! For all we know he could turn out to be a bigger bust than Bennett.

You do what the colluding diva wants, he has Cleveland by the balls really.

I don't know if its good for Cleveland long term throwing their talent away to please one man.

They did the dirty work when lebron left and stockpiled that talent/assets, now he wants a toy and he's going to jump up and down like a little brat til they get it.

The only thing the Cavs front office has proven is that they have no idea what they are doing. :lol
ZERO playoff appearances since Lebron left, even though the conference has been weaker than ever the last few years. :facepalm They also have the lowest winning percentage in the league over the last 4 years. They need a basketball genius like Lebron to save them from themselves!

trade away all young players give away all 1st round picks just for Love for Lebron. Then Love pulls a Boozer and doesn't resign with Cavs and Lebron opts out and the Cavs are left with shit besides Kyrie.

It's okay, ESPN told me that he only took a 2 year deal (with an opt out clause) so that he could help Cleveland for the future by being more flexible in stuff. Oh, and he also plans on getting as much money from them as humanly possible, so there's that.

Could you imagine if love got a serious injury at the start of the season(I don't wish it)and Cleveland had gutted all their young talent to get him? Then lebron takes off in his second year option and leaves them with nothing...

Be very careful Cleveland, lebron hasn't committed long term, why does he deserve the right to gm for the team?

because it's understood that he isnt leaving

because it's understood that he isnt leaving

A year before he left Cleveland and Miami it seemed "understood" that he would stay there too.

Even the Cavs aren't dumb enough to think that him staying there past his contractual obligation is a sure thing.

1. You have no idea what's happening behind the scenes.

2. The Cavs were trying desperately to acquire Love long before James came back right up until he flatly said he wouldn't extend here. When he changed his tune after LeBron was rumored to be coming back, talks immediately resumed.

3. We have no clue what kind of offers are being made.

4. Nothing has happened yet.

5. You don't seem to understand how leverage works.

6. You don't seem to grasp why James signing anything beyond a two year deal right now would lose him potentially 10s of millions of dollars when the new CBA comes down the pike in two years.

I'm going to close the thread until this thing is over. Then you can debate away. Right now, you're just guess-trolling.
