I actually think Felton could be really good for us in a limited 15 or so minutes a game.

Would be a nice guy to come in and add scoring/depth at either guard position.

Incorrect. Jameer was an all star that year and was balling out. He wasn't even supposed to play in the finals he didn't have any time to get back into shape. It was stupid that he tried to play.

i'm going off reports that we think he's going to be our starter. that is what scares the shit out of me.

Which has been exactly my point the entire time.

I just didn't realize that the Mavs actually were entertaining playing him starer level minutes. I listened to Cuban talk about him yesterday and the way he talked about Felton made me worried we actually think we can rely on him to start.

I've said from the beginning that in roughly 20 minutes a game he'd be great. Also, I thought we'd have Vince Carter as a our backup sg at the time as well...or at least some sg (we don't have one at this point).

Never did I think Felton was going to be great as our starting pg or first guard off the bench playing the most minutes.

Meh...I really don't think so.

Harris or Nelson as the first guard off the bench is really good actually.
Felton playing the 4th guard spot is nice.
Crowder/Jefferson backing up Parsons is nice.
Wright/Lewis/Smith as backup bigs isn't ideal, but it's not bad.

It's not a great bench, but it's got some nice pieces that could fit in very nicely.

Carlisle also cross matches starters with bench players a lot in a really interesting way that allows the Mavs not to rely too heavily on the "bench unit"...

Dirk, for example, played a lot with the bench guys last year.

This team is going to rely on Ellis and Parsons a lot in terms of them playing big minutes night in night out. I'm okay with that though...that is how this team should be structured.

not that it matters a lot, but we just voided the contract of Lewis because he's apparently hurt. maybe we can go get another vet minimum big now that we have that roster spot open.

I don't get this. Felton as the 4th guard of a team is nice value. If he gets his fat ass in shape and tries hard...it will be great value.

Felton should be able to play 15 to 20 minutes a game and add some nice depth to our guard rotation.
