Trying to find some numbers right now.
Only relevant numbers to defense = DRAPM...it's not flawless but it's really the only statistic that gives at least some indication of defensive impact:

Love 2014 = +1.32
Love 2013 = +2.1
Love 2012 = +1.5

Bosh 2010 = +1.9
Bosh 2009 = +1.6
Bosh 2008 = +2.1
Bosh 2007 = +1.5

Pretty comparable...

Really Chris Bosh was a far better defender...

09/10 Bosh was the worst defensive version of prime Bosh.

Even if it's better than 13/14 Kevin Love, it's not that impactful ifwere talking about other versions of Toronto Bosh. It's not Duncan and Garnett level, not even peak Elton Brand or Jermaine O'Neal level.

Wow, Kevin Love really had a historic season. Seriously underrated.

Third in all these categories:

OWS (10.6) Behind Lebron and KD
Win Shares (14.3) Behind Lebron and KD
Defensive Rebound Pct (29.5) behind Andrew Bogut and DeMarcus Cousins
3rd in PER (26.9) behind Lebron and KD.
3rd in Total rebounds (963) behind DeAndre Jordan and Andre Drummond.
3rd (520) in FTA behind Kevin Durant and James Harden

Other Notables:
4th in WS PER 48 Behind Lebron, KD and Chris Paul.
8th in OFF rating.
20th in TS%.

Finishing 3rd in a bunch of categories doesn't make a season "historic."

When the number one and two are Kevin Durant and Lebron James it does.

No, it doesn't. Maybe him finishing with an average of 26 PPG and 14 RPG is, in someway historic, but simply finishing third or top five in a bunch of categories isn't historic in and of itself. That's now how it works; regardless of who you finish third behind.

Statistically, how is it not?

Did you not read my next post? Him finishing thrid in a bunch of categories in and of itself is not historic. I already said averaging 26 and 14 might be or probably is in some regard. I guess it just depends on how you define "historic." The only player I really consider having a historic season this year was Durant. I'm sure if you pick and choose the right stats for LeBron, he did too to some extent.

And yes, I'm being stubborn and overly critical over something trivial. Just one of those things, when seeing it, kind of rubbed me the wrong way because he said that by finishing third in a some categories made his season historic...essentially because he finished third behind LeBron and Durant. That's not what makes a season historic.

But back to the thread topic. I'd take current Kevin Love although it's probably pretty close the more I think about it. Bosh was playing with some pretty shitty rosters in Toronto and still managed to get them into the playoffs once or twice. And yes, I'm aware Love would've gotten a few of his Minny teams into the playoffs a few times if they played in the West.

The rosters the years we made the playoffs were not THAT bad....Also will say this - as the "man" on the team it's a lot closer but i dont think its ideal to have either as the best player on your team and Love has a much better complementary skillset than Bosh

I don't think you read my post correctly, No where in the post did I say finishing third in a bunch of categories implies it was historic. A passing comment which referred to the number of players who have average 26/14 really had nothing to do what with what I was trying to point out in the post nor did I expect it did it be overly analysed in such a pedantic manner.
