But the play making could use some refinement :oldlol:

Though it would be easier to teach Westbrook the fundamentals than to give someone else Westbrook's fire.

Every rookie should hang this on their wall:

"life is like basketball sometime there shot miss and sometime there shot make sometime there dribble and fall to the ground of to the court but if you alway have a patient then you will alway make more then you miss"

The Main reason Kobe has gotten away with his attitude for the past 2 decades....

is Because he works the hardest at his profession. He puts in the time to become a great player...If you work the hardest then aint no one can say sh!t to you.

+1 about his work ethic. The man has an unbelievable amount of dedication and drive. His attitude is that I am the best player so I have the biggest probability of making those shots and will go for it. Respect!

I don't know why people criticize Kobe and Lebron for their respective styles. Kobe counts on himself to make those tough shots whereas Lebron looks for the best possible option. I personally like Kobe's style but completely understand Lebron's tactics. It's a confidence thing.

That Westbrook on the other hand....

Exactly the thing he dont give a crap about. Everyone only seems to focus on FG% when that is wrong. other players balk at shooting the last shot, try to pass off and cause turnovers, shot clock violations, etc. Kobe's one guy who isn't afraid to take the shot, which makes him very dangerous in those type of situations. Even some plays where people rag him for turn out well. Remember those last second put backs by Pau and MWP in the playoffs? Who do you think is drawing their defenders away from the basket? Kobe is distorting the defence because they know he isnt afraid to shoot the ball, leaving other guys open to get rebounds if necessary.

If you watch other teams, they stick to their man, making the trailing team scramble around trying to find a shot. With Kobe over his career, he forces the defence to react to him and usually double team him.

5-22 doesn't seem very dangerous

Kobe is a really great unique basketball player and this attitude is really what makes him even greater. I don't get those haters, maybe if you are a born celtics fan or he crushed your team, but hate him because, without a reason is silly but it doesn't matter cause he doesn't really care so it makes them irrelevant. I love basketball and Kobe is one of the players who makes it so fine and good to watch.

Absolutely love Kobe's attitude. He is spot-on. The media and fans are fickle. If you put in the work he does and don't shy away from the big moments, then people will respect you for that. Trying to pander to people gets you nowhere but frustrated.

That 5-22 number lacks context, which means it will be used over and over again by haters to tear Kobe down. When did they occur? Was Shaq even on the team? Was Shaq on the bench in foul trouble? Gasol was great for being so reliably consistent; he wasn't known as a go-to guy in crunch-time. Who else would take the shots? Fisher made a few memorable ones. Big Shot Rob too. Shaq of course was dominant anytime. But again, those numbers lack any context. If many of them came post-Shaq, then everybody knew that Kobe was the go-to-guy in the 4th quarter.

But whatever. Haters will hate, while most (even Celtics homer Simmons) respect Kobe's legacy and realize the league will be lesser when he retires.

Kobe stans talking about a lack of context....

Where's that context when discussing Lebron's final record?

You have no consistency much like Kobe.

Load of crap.

How do you know he works the hardest? Because the media says so and is hyping him up?

There are probably a lot of players in the league who work even harder but because they are scrubs nobody is talking about them and their work ethic.

Show me where I have ever mentioned LeBron's Finals record.

I'm waiting. Actually no I'm not, because I've never brought it up. Things like "5-22!" and "2/5!" are witty one-liners, but they are ultimately meaningless given proper context.

Edit: Apr 2014 poster. I got trolled. :(

More of a generalisation, agreed context is needed. Thus I will post this whole article providing such context.

Note I don't agree with much of the analysis, but frames for some of the points you raised.

I do not say this to be critical, but when statements like that are made I sometimes wonder whether a person truly does not care or simply wishes he didn't care, even though he does. I've had moments throughout my life where I've played that card, "I don't care what they think, I'm just going to play my game and do my best." But that was often my way of trying to fake it until I made it. I didn't want to care so I tried to say I didn't care convincingly enough to try to make it so over time... which kind of worked.

If I were in Bryant's shoes, I believe I would have a tough time dealing with all the scrutiny, so I respect the manner with which he has been able to handle things over the years.
